I've managed around 650miles in my E38 728i but the that was almost all motorway and driving sensibly. Usually around 550 miles or so. I've had under 450 before too

85 litres.

35mpg is fairly impressive from a petrol that size.

my commute is now 23 miles each way, 21 of which are trundling on the motorway doing 65-70mph to and from work. it does 2050rpm at 70mph. once warm it gets around 39mpg at 65-70. pretty impressive IMO.

it's EXTREMELY each to drop that to below 30 if you go around town or do short trips though.

My daily drive is a Mk. 1 Skoda Octavia VRs. It's had a re-map and runs a Pipercross Air filter, nothing more.

As I'm having to be a bit careful with money and hence fuel lately (for day to day driving at least) I have been pleasantly surprised to have been getting 400 plus miles out of a tankful costing 70 quid - by driving a bit gently 80% of the time, with the occasional thrap into the breadline for fun and to keep the engine honest.

So that's 49 litres of V Power for a fill-up (which is 10 gallons) - so that works out at 40 to the gallon. Hmm, not bad for a petrol turbo 4-door hatchback I think?

Then - my weekend toy is this:

Which does, on a good day, 15 mpg yikes

I'll consistently get about 450 miles out of about 45 litres in day to day driving in my VRS.
My best was Kent - Fort William, Scotland on one tank, around 550miles. The last few miles were a bit butt clenching though.

In the MX5 it is 250-300 miles.

345 on the Evora according to the digital readout, never dare push it to doing more than 300 though in case of inaccuracy.

My 320D Efficient Dynamics can see 1000miles range easy on the computer after a fill up and on a long steady run.

I have had 950miles out of a tank after a week of running up and down the motorway at 65mph. Not bad for a 160bhp car.

Would still sacrifice a few mpg for better looking wheels!

Same car.
I've done quite a few runs over 900 miles too, but I tend to fill it at about 800-odd if I'm doing long journeys.

How BMW made it do that on a 61 litre tank, while still allowing it to do 0-60 in 8s and 142mph, I don't know.

If even averages about 50mpg at 100mph (did this on a recent trip to Germany)

The furthest I've had out of the Elise is 301 miles.

The Saab will do 40 miles per gallon and holds over 70 litres, so theoretically 600 miles plus, but I have never driven sufficiently gently to get 40mpg over a full tank, nor would I want to run it that close to empty.

How much is the usable tank volume of a 111R? 300 miles seems pretty good. That's the range we get out of the Smart 42 (refuelling when reserve comes on, with 30 litres gone and 5 left).

The Panda's theoretical range can be up to 550 miles, though I have never pushed it that far, and its only a 7.7 gallon tank! I have had 72mpg out of a whole tank, on holiday in the highlands a couple of months ago, and I have had over 83 mpg showing after a hilly run before.

PH - economy matters!

Passat will do 700-800 on a full tank if driven at 60-70 on the motorway with the cruise on.
