Who cares that it is badly parked. It is a 962. Nothing else needs to be said. Although im going to watch Monkey again when he met Norbert Singer & then drive the 956.

In Rothmans colours.........

Am I right in saying that it is a replica, not a full blooded original, or have I interpreted it wrong?

I think it's an altered original, with bits from 956s and 962s.

Either way, excellent.

Depends.

Schuppan made it, and he basically revamped ex-racing cars in much the same way as Dauer did.

He did, but Vern Schuppan Ltd also developed their own road car based on the 962. Very similar but with a more rounded built in rear spolier and rear end.
I am pretty sure that is one of the prototype Schuppan 962CRs, with a more regualr 962 body on it. The Schuppan 962Cr body was more rounded all over really.

That is absolutely stunning. The idea of driving something like that on the road, is the ultimate automotive fantasy for me. 650+ bhp, 850kg, the performance must be staggering.

The way that I read it was that is the original prototype for the replicas, so that has all of the original 962 parts on it and they made the shell out of a different composite, so technically its mechanically real with a reproduced shell.

Well it wouldn't be the first time someone has changed the CR bodywork for the normal 962 stuff. Chassis #06 was had the side and front changed but still sports the CR rear oddly enough.

The first (and what I think only) prototype is still very much a CR, was recently for sale at a Coys Auction.

Chassis 2 and 3 I have nothing on at all apart from 2 was silver and sold to Japan.

Chassis 4 is now matte black and still a CR in Japan and 5 is still a black CR and in the UK as far as I know, was for sale back in 2005 at the MPH show.

Could be 2 or 3 maybe?

Schuppan did also make a normal 962 roadcar, but only one I think, could also be that.
