I doesn't really matter why they're doing it, though, does it - because they're using the road as it is supposed to be used. Yes, it's probably not very polite of safe to blast past stationary traffic at full speed and then cut in at the last possible moment, but driving sensibly in the lane and merging with due care and attention is fine.I don't have a problem with this at all. If everyone was educated to use both lanes properly, then which ever lane you choose, you are effectively joining the back of the queue.

If its a 2 lane road the right had lane is for over taking not for queuing? People automatically stick to the left lane. If everyone was educated to use both lanes properly, then which ever lane you choose, you are effectively joining the back of the queue.

aplogies if some one has said this.There is a certain flow that can be attained across the lights, 2 lanes being better than one. If we all grew up and merged in turn we could all go on our way in the minumum time.
I agree that merge in turn should be made compulsory. I have to say that if you try to filter in reasonably in good time without hurtling into someones safety gap across the hatchings then 9 out of 10 drivers are OK. If its the 10th I just close the throttle and drop one place back.

Simpler to just write 'MERGE POINT' at the end of the outer lane where the arrows are.

A3 southbound Burpham junction is 2 lanes onto a roundabout with arrows in the road clearly indicating both lanes are a straight ahead.
On busy days people can be queueing in the left lane actually onto the A3 carriageway with the right lane completely empty, why?
I hit the right lane and end up having to jocky for position at the roundabout with many people trying to block me, giving me full beams or the old universal 5 knuckle shuffle wave of the hand.
I really don't understand why people can't see that you are to use both lanes, it'll make everyones like far easier and make your journey quicker.

The problem (other than the morons on the road) Is that the signs always indicate one lane merging into another rather than 2 lanes merging together, this gives the ones blocking the mentality that they have right of way.
Normally it will be that the left hand lane is continuous and the right hand lane will have arrows telling you to get into the left lane, if both lanes had arrows it would remove the thought of priority over the other lane and stop all of this bks. That however is too simple.

The last thing you want is for anybody to get lane zipping.
If that huge que splits into two you will no longer be able to romp to the front. Each of the two ques will go at the same speed as the current big que as the single lane they feed into will still have the same capacity to move cars on. You will then have no option but to join a slow que. So you will be stuffed.
Be glad that they don't get it.

This is the exact same place i always think about when people mention merge in turns, and yes they still que like retards and even see lorries taking up half of each lane to stop people using the lane correctlyThey still queue like tards though....

It's the same with my private roads in London. They are all marked in red Tarmac and get me past all the queues. The last thing you want is for anybody to get lane zipping.

If people started reading the clear as day blue signs it would be ruination.
There is no getting away from the fact that the frogs are appalling drivers but stupidity rules rather than aggression and zip merging and letting people out is the norm.
In some ways I would like this subject to that of undertaking, yes yes we all know that it's illegal but if you can undertake someone safely and within the speed limit then it's the cretin you undertook who was really at fault for being where he/she was.
