Just thinking back to when I was a kid, for some strange reason I really, really wanted a 3 door Ford Maverick. I got the brochures from a Ford dealer, drew pictures of them, even worked out how many years it would take for me to save up and buy one(with pocket money??!)

Ironic really as I could probably pick one up for less than a grand now!

Any odd car desires you can remember from childhood or early motoring life that you laugh at now?!

(Naming genuinely great cars that you'd still have now doesn't count!)

A Ford Orion Equipe... I thought it looked amazing when I was 8 or 9.

By 13 I was drawing pictures of 911's and sending them to Richard Lovett so I think my old man must have noticed and kicked it out of me..

Ten years later I was working for Richard Lovett (Lotus Cheltenham) and now I drive a Lotus.

Moral of the story, no idea.

Ford Orion. There was a modified one near me when I was growing up, loved it and really wanted one. Glad I grew out of it!

I seem to remember I made it my goal in around 2008 (age 13) to get a 2008 Vauxhall Astra 1.9CDTi SRi 5dr (Mk5) in black as a first car. It also had to have the styling pack and part leather. yes

When I was young I really wanted a Maestro van, I thought they were amazing and I used to sit up at night in bed and pretend to drive one with a plate for a steering wheel. I was about 7 though.

I saw one in the flesh a few months ago and it reminded me about it. They dont look as tempting now

Looks-wise that's quite a "10 year old friendly" car.
