When I was a teen, I thought that if you rocked up in one of these (an ST24 with bodykit, black with tinted windows) that you would look like The Man. To which my mates laughabley pointed out "Not in a Mondeo, A top BMW perhaps, but not one of those..."

I'd still like one of these now... boxedin

Vauxhall Viva E coupe (poverty spec) in white. I always liked the shape and the clean look of these. Nearly 40 years later I still desire one, and would have one if I had the space (yes I'm odd!) It might be a bit embarrassing driving one today, as the standard engine has trouble pulling the skin of a rice pudding. But I'd sort this by turning it into a bit of a sleeper by fitting a 2.3 litre OHC engine from a Magnum or Firenza, and I'd replace the hubcap wheels with a set of '70's Rostyles. No other external modifications would be needed smile

Ive always fancied having a go in something really obscure- Hyundai XG, kia Magentis, Cadillac STS .

The newer Honda Legend looks desirable as well!

The Ford Sierra Laser. My mates dad had a black one back in the day and I coveted it so much (probably because it had the word Laser on it!)

I wouldn't mind getting into a Hyundai Genesis or Equus, or the similarly obscure Kia K9 (which actually isn't a dog), but you can't get them in the UK and for some reason nobody's bothered doing grey imports of them as far as I'm aware.

Late 80s Mark 2 Cavalier SRi 130.

I'd still like one.

It pains me to say it but as a youngster at the 1994 Motorshow I thought the Daewoo Nexia was a cool car as it was a modern version of mk2 Astra.

When i was 8 or 9 my dream car was a Talbot Solara. My mum and dad told me that if I followed my dream career (an architect) I could probably have two of them!

All kinds of weird chaff.

Mid 90s Mondeo Saloon (had to be the saloon. I think BTCC played a part in this, that and I had a red scalextric one hehe)

My first car, also thanks to BTCC inspiration biggrin

Thinking about scalextric reminded me that I really wanted a Laguna at the time too...

When I was about 6, I really wanted a Green Rover saloon. Later when I was 16, I wanted the new E250 CDI W222. Now I am more interested in the E63 AMG smile

I always wanted the 3.0 Omega. I regret missing the boat because they're all knackered now.

Always really, really liked Peugeot 309s. Even in standard flavour I thought they were fantastic, but upon seeing a double page advert in an edition of CAR magazine for the GTi Goodwood edition I looked at the poster of the F40 on my wall, and then back at the Goodwood ad and had to think about it a bit.

Reading through the thread, also, I’m not alone in thinking Orions were 50 shade of fancy. My Dad had a brand new H reg 1.6i Ghia which was the coolest thing ever. Think the older, boxier models were a little cooler tho’.

W22* refers to S-classes - presume you mean the W212?

I seem to remember I made it my goal in around 2008 (age 13) to get a 2008 Vauxhall Astra 1.9CDTi SRi 5dr (Mk5) in black as a first car. It also had to have the styling pack and part leather. yes

example:

Yeah, I am strange. hehe
You weren't alone, I also admit to holding this exact desire in 2008.

I was 17 at the time and my first car was a 2005 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Design 5dr (with part leather, just to make you jealous wink)

However, I was intensely jealous of another person at college had the 1.9 SRi... what could possibly be more exciting and aspirational than exactly the same car with a slightly more powerful diesel engine!?! The 150hp sounded insane!

I've since had another VX with the 2.0/160hp version of the same engine and found it the most dull, depressing thing in the world. Oh to be 17 again.

Thought I was the dog's once upon a time. Mid-20s, and a company Mk3 Golf GTi or two, then an E36 or three. I did quite like the 155TS, though.

Taking the money and running my own CX GTi was _definitely_ the right move.
