Apparently a scrap merchant paid £160,000 for it last year, and now it's valued at £55,000 (on its own merits, excluding celeb owner status) could it be worth a lot less given the attachment?

Seriously? The car has dropped in value even though it has nothing to do with the current unproven allegations (and even if they are proven he is dead anyway so can't defend himself). Honestly, this country is full of cretins.

I'd suggest the cretins are the ones buying over priced used items.

Right so the car's actual market value without celebrity association is £55k? Then that makes sense.

Yes - who the hell would give £5 over book because JS (pre news story) owned it.

By the same token I wouldn't expect a discount (below book) now - it's previous owners are totally irrelevant to me be they Beckham or Hitler.

Well that's not a valid registration so it would have to be something like N10 TAX with the 1 "cunningly" masked by odd spacing or something.

So the car is worth 55k? What would the plate be worth if sold separately?
