Opinions please...both cars feature in my price range.
3 year old M3 or 10 year old Porsche.
If this has been covered, apologies in advance.

Porsche all day long.
Do I want a super car or a 4 door family saloon car?

The M3 has the better engine, the 996 Turbo is a better car all round though. Less practical, but more of an "object of desire" imo, which at this price would be a big factor for me.

The 911 is much more special (and better on paper as well).

Porker, though if it was me it would be a 993 variant- either the Carrera S or the Turbo. 996 Turbo is a sensational car though

Drive them, I drove a 996 turbo at speed on a track and was disappointed by it. Was expecting massive pace, and didn't really get it. Don't get me wrong, it was fast but got out underwhelmed.

Neither. Buy a CSL. Practical and more of an event than either of the other two.

The 996's are fugly and will cost more to run with radiators rotting, air con failing, brakes and tyres more likely to be worn, fragile suspension components etc* No, can't do it. The 911 every time. Just don't buy the silver one with black interior in Newcastle which looks fantastic value and I'm saving my pennies for.

One is a genuine supercar which you'd regret not owning the M3 is a tarted up junior exec car. Don't get me wrong the M3 is great but its based on a family saloon whereas the other is an out and out sports car only.

I quite like the look of the 996 turbo with the big rear hips. Wasnt a fan of the standard 996 carrera looks wise.

every time you saw a 996T you'd regret not having bought one. Not sure the reverse would apply. The Turbo is far more imo

For me it'd be a 996 GT3.

It seems that the M3 is a sensible compromise yet your heart is wanting the 996 turbo. Go with your heart and get the 996!

Also there will come a point where you'd not be able to use te 996TT due to age reliability value etc whereas the M3 will keep losing value the 996TT will never be a £10k car.
The M3 is also a car that will never do 0-100mph in 9.0 seconds... It's mega fast.
