As per the thread title. f kwits, most of them. Went to Oxford today, Ashmolean, Natural History Musuem & Pitt Rivers just for some culture - for a change. But my god - those f king idiotic pedal jockeys.... Rarely have seen such f kwittery on wheels & it's been a long time since I could feel the road rage coming on. Thankfully it didn't as I parked the car, found a Costa Coffee & smoked a couple of Marlboro. Take the slow 5 MPH queue into the arse end of Oxford. I'm sat a set of traffic lights in the outside lane with an Audi TT on my inside, minding his own business waiting for the lights to change. As they changed what happens? Some dopey little f ker on a bike, wearing a mortar board & gown!!!!, appears between me & the TT (completely ignoring the empty cycle lane on the inside) & proceeds to scare the s t out of the TT driver as well as SWMBO with his f kwit attitude as he skims between the two cars. Stupid little f ker then continues to ignore the cycle lane & nonchantly rides his two wheel death trap down the middle of the road towards the city centre. I take a left, still behind the cretin on the bike, & as I turn off he gives me the middle finger even though I sensibly stayed behind him. Stupid little ..... & as for the city centre. The f kers are everywhere & they simply expect pedestrians to get out of their way no matter where you are - even on the pavement! w kers. For a minute, just for a minute, I wanted a Land Rover Defender with a cyclist catcher mounted on the front & a collector bin on the back........ Oxford cyclists. f kwits. Stupid ignorant little f kwits. & I know I will get some abuse however I was well behaved, didn't swear once at a cyclist & did my best to ignore them but it does get difficult. Grrrrrr. Rant over. Until next time.........

Could this be a first?

The guy was filtering between cars in a 5mph queue? And you were scared or something? I don't understand.

I had forgotten just how un-car friendly Oxford is & just how many bikes were on the roads & the footpaths!!
Best bit of the day was the Maserati Indy I spotted being used as an every day car!

Oxford is a weird place to observe cyclists, you could almost convince yourself that you have Harry Potter's invisibility cloak wrapped over your car.

No. I wasn't scared. Just didn't expect him to come tear arsing between the two cars whilst ignoring the completely empty cycle lane which is exactly what I wrote in my original post. Simple enough to understand isn't it? What I should have added is that the two lanes merged into one just after the traffic lights so had either of us been quicker off the mark, which wasn't an option due to the amount of traffic (& which is not something i would do anyway), the daft little f ker might well have been squashed between the cars.

5/10, not sufficiently sweary.
Bicycles are the main mode of transport for several thousand people in Oxford. It's a cycle town. Ditto Cambridge. Relax.
PS: the bloke in the gown may not be Lance Armstrong, but he is unlikely to be ignorant, although in my day a Latin quip would have been preferred to flipping the bird.

Pardon me for daring to make a posting. I had forgotten that some of you object to making postings unless it floats your boat.
I couldn't care less about being overtaken by a cyclist. My point, had you read the post properly & not responded like an idiot, was to rant about one particular idiot.
What's wrong with that?

Cycle lanes are not compulsory. Besides, Oxford couldn't make it any clearer that cars are not welcome if they mounted effigies of Jeremy Clarkson on gibbets at each road into the city - the motorist is the second class citizen on Oxford's roads, not the cyclist. In fact, he's further down the food chain than the bus w kers. I deal with this by not driving there if I can possibly help it, ideally by not going there at all.

cambridge is just as bad... i couldn't f king believe it when i was there on business. I hate students. I hated them when I was one, both times, and I hate them more now. I hate posh students more... and basically oxbridge cyclists are the f king pinnacle of this. I want to grand theft auto powerslide through as many of the s as possible, and then try and beat that record.

Only reason I drove in was because I had a boot full of stuff that couldn't be dragged in on the park & ride. Hadn't been to Oxford for a while & as I said I had forgotten just how many bikes were on the road in Oxford.
Will not make that mistake again as will revert back to park & ride.

Brookes, formerly OxPoly, AKA "the fools on the hill". I heard a bloke say that he went to "Brookes College, Oxford". Cheesy!
