Pretty sure this should be on a Q plate:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Can't see how it can retain the original identity. Needs an IVA I would think as well.

Interesting matter. The owner maintains it has been approved by the DVLA. I like you am somewhat doubtful in view of the extent of the changes. I would have thought IVA would be required. Apparently not.

Unless it was built quite a while ago possibly? If it was done recently then it immediately falls foul of the points rules due to its heavily modified monocoque.

My experience of the IVA and SVA processes has been very mixed. Particularly with heavily modified cars. I have got all the kit cars I have needed to submit to these tests through these tests but there can be problems particularly with heavily modified cars.

The workmanship on ths car dose seem to be very good indeed. Only a full scale examination of the car and the paperwork could establish the reality of the situation. On balance, after thinking about this for some time, I am inclined to accept the word of the OP in the circumstances. May well be paperwork and documentary evidence which the DVLA have accepted. This wouold explain the result.

I no longer buy unfunished, unseen and unstarted kit cars personally whereas in years gone by I have bought them in significant numbers, without paperwork, registration and so on. I no longer do this because of the number of obviously questionable kit cars there are about nowadays.

The number of Barn find Locosts/Locusts/Robin Hoods etc with Dutton/Ginetta or similar identities grafted on with VIN plate/registration plates added appearing on the internet tells its own story I think. Considerable caution needs to be exercised in examining all kit cars nowadays because there are a lot of cars about (in kiit car terms) that are not the full shilling at all.

Genuine reason for sale as I've recently got a little diesel van and no longer need two cars!
That's not quite the truth now is it...... "selling due to being banned for driving an unroadworthy vehicle"

I like these Focus's that keep cropping up. They sell for more than a genuine ST insurance and tax fraud is obviously a selling point. rolleyes

That's almost the same as the one my mate bought. I hope this one doesn't turn out out to have a stolen engine. rolleyes

Nightmare car best avoided. Illegal OTR, uninsured and very probably unsafe in use.

Daft price for a pile of scrap. Getting such cars properly registered is no longer easy at all. If indeed actually possible.

Another crying shame as it's potentially awesome.

Perhaps the saddest part is the utter disinenguous ramblings in the advert itself. Illegal in use on the road, liable to be ofroaded if spotted by the Police, running nitrous, totally uninsurable on the road and very probably utterly unsafe because of the wholly inadequate underpinnings using a car never designed for this kind of weight and power.

Avoid absolutely must be the only approach.

That looks like a lot of fun and as it's using the original gearbox the only "custom" parts would be engine mounts and plumbing. No structural changes from the limited views and as for the amount of power; it's a Rover V8 you can get more out of a tuned Pinto.

Another one that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole for the sake of a stamp.

Scrap value IMO. Not possible to effect economic registration and no guarantees it will run.

Why bother? Best avoided.

I noticed he mentions that there's no V5 for the car either as it appears to have been conveniently lost.

Also, Kenco Cams laughlaugh

Only slightly funnier than:

The rest of the ad isn't much better, and how hard is it to spell 'what'?
