Still a £$&£$ on the log book

I can't see the DVLA doing much
Be interesting to see what this mob would do if they had regular entries on their reporting section

1.4 Fiesta with 2.0 Mk1 Focus RS engine but not declared on the V5 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130873649383
I can also confirm that about 2 years ago one of the previous owners of this car came onto a Ford forum i was on, then proceeded to brag about how it was still a 1.4 on the logbook. Also said how he'd lied to his insurers and hadn't told them about the FRS engine, so insurers thought it was still a 1.4. Said insurer happened to use the same forum and cancelled his insurance on the basis of insurance fraud

That does a lot for Pumaspeeds reputation doesn't it?
TBH i think PumaSpeed's rep is generally a bit poor on a fair number of Ford forums anyway so i doubt the car as it stands makes much difference The problem with that ad is it makes it sound as though PS built the car in it's current guise, when in fact all they did was fit the JWRC kit & a few other bits. The aftermarket ecu, engine conversion, etc, followed with the owner that bought the car off them.
Another major problem with that car though is how PS dealt with widening the rear track. Rather than doing it properly with a decent uprated beam, suspension, correct offset wider wheels, etc, all they did was weld a massive slab of thick metal onto the rear beam / hubs to widen the track. Somebody tried using the car on track & said the handling was fairly attrocious

Would be a bargain if it wasn't a potential nightmare.
So you've done nothing about trying to report this to someone in authority?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Corsa-Redtop-2-...

What is your motivation for this thread?

I report items to eBay and so forum members report them to AVCS or it has been known for people to pass the details of the vehicleon to a friendly local Police officer to deal with if the listing is in their county.
My principal motivation is to raise awareness and highlight these vehicles in case a Pistonhead was considering buying one of them and opening a massive can of worms with it.

Is it really? 'cause you do seem to start a lot of threads where you see yourself as some sort of quasi-policeman monitoring the internet and roads for wrong-doers.This just begs belief. a KTM 300cc two stroke engine in a monkey bike, still registered as a 125cc too!

One reason for this is something i have fallen foul of.
Having recently swapped a 2.5 TD in a Defender out for a rover V8 i sent off the log book to the DVLA to tell them the new CC and engine number.
i got a snotty letter in return 6 weeks later telling me i had to have a qualified engineers report proving that the engine was actually in the vehicle (Nothing to do with quality of install just proof its there).
I am a qualified engineer but apparently my say so isnt good enough (backed up with photographic evidence).
I gave up trying in the end.

Fitted a V8 to a 1.3 which means I'd pay MORE tax.
Told the DVLA and they wanted me to jump through hoops - stuff 'em I'll just pay less tax.

I have never understood why people choose to modify a cost minimised basic transportation device ?
Just start with a faster one in the first place
Typically it's because they are small and light which means they end up very fast.Just start with a faster one in the first place
It's then great fun annoying people in "better" cars who look down their noses at such lesser cars.

Evidently a Mk1 FRS replica (not judging by the bodykit) but anyway, originally a 1.4 zetec, but has since had a 1.8 zetec dropped in - as per the seller ".............so cheap insurance"
ETA -
1.7 Astra Van with a Z20LET engine - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-MODIFIED-VAUXHALL-A...
Up to the new owner to change or declare evidently

Still a five door on the log book so you can add £400+ for the SVA/IVA to the asking price.

If in fact the car can pass IVA. I think this is a very questionable sale. It seems to me with the Vosa/DVLA rule tightening on every modification made buying dodgy motors which have fundamental alterations unrecorded is no longer a sensible game. Time was the DVLA would amend log books to reflect changes. Nowadays the inherent testing costs and the very real risk of refusal seriously compromises such unauthorised and unrecorded alterations.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Mondeo-PICK-UP-/251...

I avoid these personally. I used to buy unfinished unregistered kit cars and enjoy fettling the cars and getting them on the road. Nowadays I will ONLY buy kit cars which have all the donor details, a full history of the build and detailed and traceable receipts for the components. The process is no longer a simple one and I think these essentially black market cars will be outlawed within two years. Probably no bad thing!
