RS3 looks inert and dull, and i'd rather not spend that sort of money on a car that is so uninspiring to drive. I'll keep my DC5 thanks

With the figures that 135i is getting, the cost associated all round for it and the mpg alot less people will be looking at the 1M version...

I actually like the new hatchback 1 series too, much better looking than the old one.

Very enjoyable watch. Well done again.

Was the BM really that noisy inside?

Cor... That BMW sounded fan-bloomin-tastic!

My 130i went to a new home a few weeks back but its great to see BMW have created another brilliant driving 1 series.

The figures are just astonishing, too.

Chris, off topic, but at the start of this vid around 20 secs, is that the same place where you drove your M3 in the autocar feature?
I think you're right....

Great video...I've predominantly had BMW's over the years but had one of the original Audi S3's in 2000 which I really liked. I remember driving it's successor maybe 5 years later and being thoroughly unimpressed...stupidly stiff suspension and awful brake feel. I couldn't believe how bad the suspension was because I had an E46 M3 at the time which had a much better ride.

Same here.

By the way, Chris mentioned the RS engine can handle a lot more power, but hasn't there been quite a few people post on here with lunched nearly new engines still in stock form? So I don't know how much I'd trust them with even more HP.
There's been 3 faults on UK cars

1 lunched a gearbox with under 1k miles - owner got a new car
1 porous cylinder head - repaired
1 swirl value came loose and payed a visit to cylinder 5 trashing the engine (common BMW diesel problem?)

Not brilliant but not the end of the world

As always a superb video from Chris. Love the BMW and as an advocate of max bhp/handling/£ it's clearly the one. Interesting that Subaru really has no reply to these new generation hot hatches which I lament as my 290bhp WRX with the standard soft suspension was the best car I've ever driven on B roads but would be outclassed by the breadvan. Come on Subaru.........

With regards to tuning the RS3 engine, can the drivetrain handle the extra power?

There's an RS3 I see at some car meets, through the grapevine I've been told the owner has gone through 3 propshafts due to it being remapped and him using the launch control quite a lot. Audi replaced it twice under warranty before discovering the map.

I've never really seen Chris Harris look frustrated when driving a car. Then I saw him drive the RS3.

Just watched the whole video, brilliant. Love the Beema, not really a fan of the RS3. BMW looks brilliant in white too.

Wow, that BMW is quite a bit of kit. Anyone know whether there is / will be a 5 door version? If so, i will have to seriously consider an upgrade from my 130i in a couple of years time.

Slightly biased review...clearly evident at Chris' joy of overtaking the RS3 during the drag race! Why be so happy that the BMW finally overtook the Audi on the straight? The BMW is undeniably a better car to drive, but Chris did set out wanting the BMW to win so no surprise that it did!
