Usual sh!te haldex FWD biased drivetrain from Audi and its horrid chassis, overpriced POS.A 1M still the best choice out of two,the M135 does its job though.

Enjoyed the video but we're not actually surprised that Audi made an understeering and non-driver-friendly car are we?

If we ignore the B7 RS4 and C5 RS6 - they've done pretty much nothing else since the ur-Quattro surely - mind you, by focussing on the "chintz and badges" they're now selling so many cars that I doubt they care.

Audi hasn't been a company who's offerings top my wantlist since the killed the original Quattro tho.

Slightly biased review...clearly evident at Chris' joy of overtaking the RS3 during the drag race! Why be so happy that the BMW finally overtook the Audi on the straight? The BMW is undeniably a better car to drive, but Chris did set out wanting the BMW to win so no surprise that it did!
So he's fixing drag races in automatic cars now?

I'm sure this will be flagged up and all his credability lost when somebody else tries it...

Your name doesn't suggest any bias towards the rear, just like your haldex

With regards to tuning the RS3 engine, can the drivetrain handle the extra power?
I'd say it can't handle what it's got - but the people who tune these things don't give a rat's ass about that...

Great video..... Having just decided to get a 1 M Coupe, to replace my Z4M, should I reconsider? Is a 2nd hand 1M worth c. 10k more than a new M135i?

What should I get?
Get the 1M. The 135i is great, but it's not in the same ballpark in as an overall driving experience, neither does it posses that intangible 'special' quality which will help keep values buoyant. In summary, yes, I'd say a low mileage s/h 1M is worth 10k more than an M135i (the fact the 1M is still circa £40k says a lot about future residuals - they're not making any more!) and will quite possibly cost less to run in the medium/long term.

So will there be another 1M? I'd like to see 1M vs M135 vs new S3.

Thanks, I thought that's where it was. smile

There's a that shape 1 series near me that I spied this week in an reddish, orangey lipstick shade metallic. The looks, I think mainly due to the headlamp shape looks pretty awful to my eyes.

I like Quattro, I like the 5 pot sound but can see appreciate that the BMW is probably the better buy and drive.

lovely to watch the video.
sound is very nice too on full power, also that 8-speed sounds well.

There's an RS3 I see at some car meets, through the grapevine I've been told the owner has gone through 3 propshafts due to it being remapped and him using the launch control quite a lot. Audi replaced it twice under warranty before discovering the map.
the box is rated to 650N

Chris, off topic, but at the start of this vid around 20 secs, is that the same place where you drove your M3 in the autocar feature?
I think you're right....
It's good old Bruntingthorpe.
I think he's talking about the slipway/jetty under the suspension bridge. I was!

It's in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NszVXttN0R4&fea...

The 130iLE was about £30k when launched in 2007 - well specced car that is languishing around £12k so I am not confident residuals will be good.

We need more videos like this; who needs tv programmes?

Really enjoyed that, the performance of the two is stunning, supercar performance i(a few years ago) in a hot hatch of that price.

Don't like the looks of the BMW at all but it looks a great car and sounded amazing (assuming it wasn't fake but it still sounded like great fun). Although if I had a choice and as much money as you'd need for the Audi, I'd have the 1M coupe.
