No she wasn't. I never really saw the a-peel...see what I did there... but seriously, I never really liked that 60s stupid hairstyle look and still preferred Marilyn Monroe or Lesley Ann Down.

Loved the Lotus though but even at the age of 6 or 7 thought it was a girl's car.

surely if you cut the battery cables on an elan (or any car) it won't turn over when you switch the ignition on....

Sir! Might I respectfully suggest a trip to http://www.specsavers.co.uk/?!

As spaximus and GranCab said.. she (La Rigg) was it for most of us spotty yoofs of the time...

Blasphemer!
JC could probably drive a Ford Anglia faster and better than most people could drive an Élan.
Light, simple, perfectly built. And that just Diana Rigg. The Lotus isn't bad either....

Am I the only nerd to vilify the conditions of the roads in the clip?
B***er the Elan, a Defender was needed!

Diana Rigg was (and in pictures, still is) the ultimate babe!

Never understood the thing with DR, although my Dad always tells me she was cloud9.

The Elan on the other hand is a thing of beauty.

"Why the large toilet roll on the roof"

You should know, having had a Sprint and a Europa.......

For the benefit of the passenger.......they normally s*** themselves at the first corner an Élan goes round ! Especially if they've been used to any other 'classic' of the period :-)))

A great garage but why the large toilet roll on the Elan? ah ha it's to mop up the oil they burn or the broken water pump wink

Only kidding looks great and brings back memories, I had a Sprint then a JPS Europa Special, one of the last they ever made, I nearly met Colin Chapman in the Europa when I had it sideways in the wet angel

Me too. She was so gorgeous it makes me want to weep. Élan was perfect match for her I reckon.

I have virtually the same combo, sorry no photo though.

'71 Élan Sprint & '98 C4S.

To reply to some of the other statements re the Élan being somewhat "a girly car"......they obviously have never driven one !

Yes they are very a very pretty car and yes they can run and did run rings around all the other English sports car of the period.

There, that should hot it up a bit .....:-))

Oh yes and let's not forget the Clarkson acronym whilst were at it LOTUS - Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious .

Even got the jibe in first ;-)))

Enjoy

Clarkson can be clever, but I'm afraid he never came up with that acronym..

Unless he did it when he was about 6 months old...
