Had a cherry red one - my first proper performance car I guess. Blimin loved it, I know it's a cliche but every trip was an adventure in that thing.

What a fantastic looking Pug, I love it! I came so close to buying one in 1991 but the insurance was going to be too high, so I "made do" with a Citroen AX GT and promised myself a 205 GTI when my premiums came down a bit. That never quite happened.

As I said before, love mine to bits, my Jag and Discovery have there own jobs in life, the Pug is there to put a smile back on my face. Easy car to fix...if you know how they work. Doddle to get tuning parts for and not too bad to live with.
The 405 that Nick has was mine too......watch this space!

Beautiful 205, i'd love a white one. Ive got a steel grey that i converted from a 1.6 to a tweaked gti6 engine, i love the power and surprise it gives people, but i'd love a totally standard one too!

One day...

Great to see so much love for these great little cars I love taking mine out whatever to reason too smile

Makes me think twice about selling mine because in a few years i'm afraid I might not be able to afford a good one again!

My 1.6 ate front tyres and suspension drop links like toffees but I did 200,000 miles in it and loved every minute. Except for when the light switch failed on a country lane one night and plunged me into darkness...

This is the car I lusted offer as a pre-teen, my neighbour had one and I thought it was amazing. Still do now, can't see myself owning one, but I would really like too.

Last time I saw one on the road I was struck by how tiny it is, as a kid I thought it was a sort of mid sized hatch-back. But I saw on on the road recently next to an old clio and it looked tiny in comparison. Cars have got bigger and bulkier.

This car looks fab, just needs an original Walker exhaust now to finish it off.

Had my 1.6 GTI for 5 years and it never let me down. At 22 I was able to buy it outright from a dealer when it was 6 months old. Dad helped me out financially. He was always so cool and helpful when it came to cars. The only issues I had with it was the dashboard had various bits of cardboard wedged in it to stop the rattling and the drivers door hinges kept clonking and I could never find a fix. Life was so uncomplicated back then and I knew nothing about driving so must have flirted with death evertime I lifted mid bend and never knew it!
It was the days when they were getting nicked by joy riders so when I parked it on the street at my then girlfriends I used to sleep with one eye open and a baseball bat by the bed.

Everytime I see a GTI I think about old NBC and that woman... Great days great days.

Gorgeous car, credit to you.

Had a cracking white 1.6 GTi and rallied a 1.9 GTi in stage and road rallies with a mate from RRMC - happy days smile

And those marketing people at Peugeot dare compare subsequent 208 GTI with this. Even the lowliest 205 in the range had unbeliavable handling and ride, while todays 208 is worse than average Korean. Shame on them and the factory.

I owned and loved a 1.6 in Graphite. Fantastic little car. And funny enough saw an immaculate 1.9 on the road recently which got me interested in re-living my youth. This article is not doing anything to remove that itch !

These truly are amazing cars...I'm now on my 7th (a daily used, but almost immaculate Laser Green 1.9).

I really wish Peugeot would take note of threads like these, and realise that they are missing a trick. It's actually pretty sad to think what they have gone from, to what they have become as a company (and it's all very well banging on about modern safety/crash regs and 'modern' expectations, but Toyota/Subaru seem to have managed their way around such things just fine...).

Abre los ojos, Peugeot.

The OE manufacturer was ECIA. However, they are like gold-dust now, and Walker now make the next best replacement (with the all-important divider in the downpipe).

That is a Walker back box connected to a original Peugeot centre section.

Me too, Citroen were offering free insurance as long as you were over 18. Those were the days. I did venture into 205 ownership with a 1.6 in 2000. Fabulous car, had a bit of Skip Brown treatment too. Unfortunately ended up in a hedge 
