My Toledo is on 134k but sounds like a bag of spanners (although that is a vag tdi trait ?) and is anything but 'tight as a drum' to drive. Can't see it making 150k without some serious money spending (clutch/dmf & quite possibly the turbo).
I've had a couple of 850 T5 Volvos with 150K+ and they DID feel as good as new at that mileage.
I wouldn't touch another high mileage modern diesel again, not unless it had receipts/history for all the big jobs already having been done.

Closing in on 168k here in my daily 328i. OK so it's got a bit of an oil leak, discs are warped but cheap fixes. Sat in traffic on the M25 this morning queuing for the tunnel and more than happy in my £970 purchase surrounded by a sea of bland boxes and vans. Also to add my 135k 944 Turbo and 120k MX5 are just getting warmed up.
About 160k on my 1998 1.8 (NA) A4. Not the speediest bit of kit, handles a bit vaguely to say the least.
Used to have a lovely Fiat Coupe 20V turbo. I miss her.
Please please please will someone buy my house to allow to me to invest in a car that has a far larger engine than I require.....

My old Mondeo had 173,000 on it when I accidentally wrapped it round a tree. It wasn't the most refined engine any more, in fact it would probably have just about hit 200k before expiring, but still a bit of a shame.
My VTEC Mini has 149,000 miles on it (the engine). Ran brilliant in the Civic and I don't see any cause for concern. One of the Golf pool cars at work spat its turbo out, it was a 57-reg and only had 64,000 on the clock. Given a typical ten year old BMW 330Ci, I'd much rather two sensible owners and 150,000 miles, as opposed to six owners, patchy history and 65,000 miles.

Sold my 1.4 petrol Seat Leon with 156k on it. It leaked through both front doors and had a few dings, but was mechanically sound.
Has the gearbox failed in the past?Welshbeef said:
I think this is a very valid point.
A chipped car is under more stress it will not last as long as a standard version. From what I hear BMW (and others) dial in a large margin of tolerance.
My Dads s70 T5 went from 85,000 to 175,000 in a chipped state, didn't even need a turbo in all that time, auto box was fine. A chipped car is under more stress it will not last as long as a standard version. From what I hear BMW (and others) dial in a large margin of tolerance.
