They could sell both types! idea

Its not just the man on the street thinking it needs a Turbo, pretty much every Journo I've read said they need more grunt anyway.

Its just a case of how long they're going to make people wait and how much, plus if the N/A motor is strong enough to take it.

Theres been no complete Nut Job tuned versions yet, so maybe the Tuners are waiting for Scoob and Toyota to show them what the engine can take.

Yuck, no thanks.

Still, if other people want them, it can't be bad for the option to be there.

If only the dealers were offering upgrades. I drove one ten days ago, was very impressed & would make an ideal replacement for both my elise & e46 touring. However neither the wheels, spoiler, rear lights and red stitching remotely appeal to my taste and no option to change is given. I could compromise on a couple, but with an interior using alarm sensors and a clock they've found stashed somewhere since the early 90ies, its a no.

The GT86 I spotted in Tokyo last month had no spoiler and looked all the better for it. Helped it was moving & the wheels were a blur too.

A hotter version can only help increase sales surely? The main thing that would put me off buying this is the fact they have so little (relatively) power compared to hot hatches and the like. This surely needs some form of halo model to attract more buyers to the lower horse powered version while also pleasing those that want more hp and a more tunable car from the off.

Smashing, as long as Toyota do a SC'd version too.

NA is too slow, I'm not sure how anyone thinks this car is light weight whilst it produces a claimed 280 bhp and has a 0-6 time of 7.3.

This thing needs a turbo (or two).

The Subaru version is looking better in STi form. Put a turbo in it and it'll leave the Toyota behind in both design and performance.

From a consumers point of view, yes please. Will Toyota let it happen? If they have ultimate say then I doubt it.

Having had a test drive in the GT86, I would *definitely* be interested in a turbo version. 280hp would be fine for me, it's not just the power, but the mid-range that makes such a difference.

Have Subaru sold any standard cars in the UK yet? I only ever see Toyotas (in real life and in terms of promotion)

Have to say, that light blue one in the pictures looks fantastic! Give it the power to match and I think they have a winner - I'd love one!

How about a naturally-aspirated 2.5 with 250bhp and a reasonable price differential over the 2.0?

Wouldn't development costs (and price) be much lower than a turbo version?

"Let's not start suckin on each others' dicks quite yet"

A hot version with added addenda (brakes, air filter, exhaust, styling etc) will mean this baby is going to cost quite a bit more.

All this hollering and whooping will stop when they start asking £35k for something that will probably hit 60 at around 6 seconds.

This is one from the US with a 400bhp "bolt on" package.

11.3 seconds to complete a standing 1/4 mile at 127mph isn't too shabby.

Finally the torque to exploit the chassis balance, and justify those rare (today) looks.

My pocket book is already twitching. I just want to wait and see if Toyota will make a more tail happy, more reliable version first smile
