Mine came with chequer plate on it, OH's didn't so we've left both as they are. I don't dislike it in moderate quantities and it does make standing on the front to put the kayaks on a bit easier and the stove and coffee pot sit nicely on it smile

If he gets the price, he will only be making a £45 profit, which is modest for a trader.

It's actually sand and dark green, brush painted. The rear door is from a Series II. There's a Fairey Overdrive in there too. The engine should start with a new battery. The Landy was standing for the last 18 months or so. The goose st all over it is optional!

Looks like he's had the overdrive off as there's no mention in the add - there's £250 profit straight away assuming it works!

The Overdrive used to work, in a whiny sort of way.

I'm told that mine is talking to me and I should worry when it stops!

This is my old beastie

1971 109 2.25 diesel, last of the series 2a with the lamps in the wings like a series 3.

As has already been mentioned it is very slow, noisy, needs 1/2 mile to turn around in, leaks water in and oil out, freezing in winter due to no heater and regularly needs something fixing but I love it.

Will I keep it forever? Probably not this one, changes in what it is used for now mean I could use one which can take to motorways without being a danger to all. It is flat out at 45mph so a regular 30 minute journey by motorway becomes a 70 minute trip on backroads if I use the Land Rover. Because of this I will probably get a 110 Defender instead at some point but can't imagine not having a Landy of some sort in my life.

My buyer has tarted the Sandy Landy up, got the engine started and is now seeking 895 for it, with the overdrive included. Fair enough if he gets that. He wants to keep the manky snorkel for some reason.

Could be a good buy for someone at that price - Outriggers are cheap and straightforward to fit if the rest of the chassis is OK

I think that a buyer might also be wise to budget for new springs, as the old ones are pretty tired. I haven't been underneath the car for over two years (a friend stored it for me in Norfolk), so don't know how bad the chassis might have become. I used to hurl waxoyl, chip fat and so forth at it.

Got to gloat (briefly before something goes wrong on it!)....my 36 year old Landy has just romped through its MOT with just one advisory for a slightly perished tyre.

Bet my 11 year old SAAB doesn't do the same!

My old one is now on for the asking price of 1395, which I think is a bit high, given that it needs welding for an MOT.

Someone once told me - I don't know if it's true - tht traffic wardens are not allowed to affix a fine to anywhere on a vehicle except the front of an upright windscreen, meaning that if the windscreen is down on the Series 1 per above pics, you can park where you like!

I'd love one, it would have to be a Stage 1 109 with a full canvas tilt though.

STOP IT NOW !!!!!

All you old LWB/SWB LR types, just stop it.

They are the spawn of the devil, on the road. They were built for one thing only, chugging around farmyards. have you actually sat in one one, on the road.....why would you possibly want to spend £1500 one that, if you did not have the need of a farm vehicle, you might as well get an old tractor.

Oh, and you "everyday town car", Defender lot are next, should you poke your head above the muck spreader.

Fool.

Everyone knows they're not just for farmyards. They're also built for getting in everyone's way on country roads where overtaking is impossible.

Haha - brilliant suggestion - especially if you off-road proper like. You'll be bashing your right elbow off the hard and sharp inner door/window bit - and it smarts!
