Not a Series, but definitely scruffy; I paid 2k for this 1989 110 HCPU, it has a galvanised chassis and an ex-disco 200Tdi, so the OP's budget is definitely doable. The doors don't shut right, and the seatbox is thrice patched, but the oily bits all work.

That looks nice, I'd love to find something similar but a 110 CSW. Unfortunately that seems to add £800 to the price frown

I bought a Defender instead of the S3 I really wanted, because I need to be able to do distances, including trips to ski resorts. I absolutely love my car. It's the antithesis of a vintage Series (lots of upgrades, modern drivetrain, fat tyres etc) - bit it's my first LR, and I completely love it.

It's not a Series, but I've stuck a picture on here to convince you that you need a Land Rover, of whatever flavour, in your life asap, OP. If I have the choice, I shall never sell mine.

Good hunting!

A little over budget, but 6x4 series 2A on ebay, located in Kent.

Clear, concise description by seller. Recent photo. Tax and MOT exempt, so a little WD40 and away you go. Sorted.

Everyone knows they're not just for farmyards. They're also built for getting in everyone's way on country roads where overtaking is impossible.

AND for intimidating those in shiny 4x4's coming the other way in narrow lanes! Disappointingly, since mine has had a repaint and has panels that match, people don't dive out of my way as they did when it was various colours! I think it was the combination of a fairly short woman, driving a battered old Landy that made people take to the hedge biggrin

That's all also a bonus biggrin

Another bonus to a Landie is I certainly can't park the MX-5 like this...

Scary looking bulkhead corrosion though; lots of welding or a replacement needed.

Nothing inherently wrong with bitsas, but if you get stopped by VOSA in this one expect to lose the tax-free status and be forced to IVA it as it's a bit iffy.

I was rather wondering about that - this particular one seems to be a bit of a frankenrover -- the fact that the bodywork (well, some of it) is from 1970-odd doesn't scream to me "this is a classic car".

I bought this with the intention of it being for life , plenty of Waxoyl etc but I am seriously starting to think I should have bought an older one. Its been more unreliable than my classic Cars !.

Money, time and space - Easily consumed on a old Land Rover..

Before £400 off eBay + 15 hours work and a new half chassis

Space - Loft and Garage full at all times during the rebuild

Finished - The final rebuild cost never to be disclosed with the wife..

That looks scarily like my house!! Series one rolling chassis under a cover, with assorted panels (in the same green) scattered around. Plus bits in the shed. Waiting on a bulkhead for mine before starting again though.rolleyes

That is fantastic!

I succumbed to another cheapo one that same colour last week, which we used for a stag-do over the weekend. I don't think that I will ever get around to tidying it up, but your picture just goes to show what is possible smile
