RE: A45 AMG (not) driven
Discussion
Yep I agree, the Germans aren't stupid, the big 3 have obviously done their research and decided there is a market for a premium hot hatch. It makes a lot of sense surely, hatchbacks are among the most popular type of car in Europe, this just gives a chance for those who are a little more affluent or enthusiastic to buy one which is a bit more special then a run of the mill VAG tdi while still retaining the practical aspects of a hatchback. I think BMW\Audi\Merc will do rather well out of them.

I've only skimmed over this but where does the 45 come from in A45? I thought this was a 2 litre 4 pot?
Same place BMW get "335i" from, I assume. Interested in this car but a shame nothing more vocal than a 2.0 4cyl & would prefer rwd really. Oh & the little 1'er still looks great!
Sat in a new Sport one of these earlier in the week. I was very impressed, lovely seats, exterior in some electric blue colour with AMG wheels looked superb. They look a lot better in the flesh than in photos. Rear lights are particularly cool. Only thing I didn't like was the big slab of dashboard plastic.

how about scooby / evo drivers who
- No longer want to drive a barry/chav wagon
- Want an interior of substantially higher quality than a 20 year old mini cab
- Value a low profile looking car so as to not draw attention to the BiB
- But still want to go bonkers fast in the wet
Hmm might have to disagree with your second point.- No longer want to drive a barry/chav wagon
- Want an interior of substantially higher quality than a 20 year old mini cab

The A class interior is very low rent. There's lots of shiny stuff dotted around but it's all a bit Ratners. The fake ipad blu-tacked to the dash is a particular low.
A total after-thought.
Still, their marketing for the A class is pretty classy.
Aside from their cheesy new TV ad debuted in X factor (says it all) I saw this the other day parked outside a shopping centre all on it's own.
Mercedes are clearly after a new customer and the plan is pile 'em high and flog 'em cheap.

All the talk of 'it doesn't look different enough' is making me laugh
Audi S-line TDi much different than S6, no
Does a C220 with AMG Sport kit look much different than a C63 ?
What do we want wide arches & a huge wing ? Lets leave that to the Barry Boys
What about wide arches and a little spoiler? Is that acceptable in your chav-guide?Audi S-line TDi much different than S6, no
