There's a reason the Italians have a large slice of that market, it's because the Italians breathe a soul into their creations that no other nation can. It's an art; and as such, is more than mere engineering.
Besides, we are discussing aesthetics here, which are, as I always point out, utterly subjective.

For what gain? It is a spectacular performance beast, but in the real world what does 100/200/300kg do to the appeal of this car. How much faster do you need to go through your favourite part of Wales or Scotland to make you feel that there was a tangible reason for loading the rear seats/ compromising on spec?I don't disagree with people who say hot hatches with a third of the power would benefit with a session on the treadmill but when looking at cars with this much power surely it's all in the setup.

Surely this is the point though. The makers are constanly pushing the envelope. Every kilogram counts, every nano-second off 0-60 times and lap times count. This is not driving in the real world, it is seeing what is possible in a production car.

I respect it massively, although I don't love it nor do I desire to have one over its rivals.....odd. Not sure why, its not hatred for Jap cars that much I'm sure.
What a lot of you seem to miss, Is that part fo the gtr's greatness is its weight, That sounds crazy. But its actually part of the reason it can corner so fast while accelerating. Minzuno went into it before.

The problem is that Italian supercars have the market to themselves and anything else hasn't got a look-in unless it has got a real USP, ie the Veyron with the top speed. Horatio Pagani even used Italy to built his empire because no-one wants a South American supercar! Nissan isn't exotic enough to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini on their terms, it had to create its own market, hence the GT-R being a brutal sledgehammer rather than a scalpel.

High speed corner stability. Weight is required as they can't generate lots of downforce with a road car, even if they could the car would be twitchy. The car is designed with 1700kg in mind, and all the other components compliment this.
I've learnt that from watching a 2minute clip of him explaining why the cars heavy. But nope, according to PH its too heavy and Kazutoshi didn't think about dropping weight. What.A.Fool.
I always laugh at the comments GT-R’s bring on this forum, especially from mostly those who will never drive or own any car in this league. Get behind the wheel of one and you’re totally changed. It’s a fantastic car which you can use every day and park up in a busy town and no scrote will key it like they would a Ferrari etc…
Fair enough we all have an opinion but most people who knock this car drive normal cars. Jealousy maybe that it is such an affordable supercar,,,, I think so,,, keep dreaming and knocking it, the GT-R will only get better.
