A great car. I just preferred it's stable mate at the time, the Audi 100 based S4. Then Audi went odd and the S2 became the S4 when the 80 became the A4. All rather confusing!
It's an odd one! They were making the S4 (based on the 100) at the same time they were producing the S2 (which as you correctly stated was based on the 80).

The 80 series then became the A4 series and the 100 series then became the A6 series. So Audi produced the 80/S2 which then became the A4/S4 and they produced the 100/S4 which then became the A6/S6.
I had one of these Audi 100 from '94 but I think it was officially called the Audi C4 and it had the 4.2 liter V8.
Brilliant car.

Brilliant car.
The C numbers refer to the platform/year of car I think. They took the Audi 100 (C3) and modified it to make their own 3.6 or 4.2 V8 and called it the Audi V8 (which later became the Audi A8). They then took the next generation of Audi 100 (C4) and plonked a V8 in the S4/6 Plus which I think is what you had.

A lovely and very rare car. I've only seen one before but then again, they were never meant for our car market.

I love these, I've only ever seen one once a fair few years ago. I saw a Blue one parked in Hornchurch, Essex. It had 993 Turbo wheels on it, but it also had a full set of wheels & tyres in the boot (they were stacked next to each other so they could bee seen through the rear window)
Sounds like my old car- would that have been in 2008?

[quote=the other me]www.otto-models.com if you fancy a 1/18 version for the mantlepiece to replace/add to the one you can't / can afford.

I will keep the real one, got rid of a 1983 ur quattro as the RS2 hammered it all over the park, it now share shares space with a quite remarkable Series 1 4.2 FHC, an interesting "old combination"

Been thinking and plotting about getting a RS2 since I owned a 200 quattro and a 100 S4 prior to my current car; for me they are the end of the Audi line I really like (I know some on PH won't agree) but I'm partial to the old rather than the new.

This is mine, with the rare MTM 18" cup 1's

Don't think I'll ever top this car.

Don't take it out when the salt goes down, so come April I'm starting to get giddy about using her again.

Good topic and keep considering every time I see one but memory goes back to when I test drove one in 1993 (Audi Sales rep being up his own arse didnt help) and wasnt a patch on the UR quattro 20v RR I had just bought with uprated chip. Turbo lag and 6 speed box was tedious compared to the sheer grunt of the URQ from 1950 rpm
I'm sure the RS2 was only available in 94/95?
Yes 94/95 although i think Audi UK's car is registered in 1997 on a P reg.
Could have been 94 - been a few beers under the bridge since then. The content remains accurate though ;-)

What was wrong with my post yesterday giving a link to the company that makes the 1st decent model of this car ? confused If you own one, you may have appreciated the opportunity to buy a 1/18 replica. The company is small & relatively unknown, and their models go up a lot in price when the limited production run is sold out, so the intention was to save folks a few bob, not to promote the company per se. What do the Mods find unPH worthy about that sentiment ?

They also made a Silver S3, Red S2, Yellow S4 Avant B5, Black 2001 S8 & Blue RS6 Plus Avant for the Audi-philes.

Possibly, it was a fair while ago. I've not seen the car since.
How long did you have it for?

Ahhh.
There's one just like yours in my village and I stop and admire it every time I walk past. The front of your house looks very similar to the mystery owners house in my village.

A year and a bit. It had 993 turbo alloys on it and if it was my car a set of Design 90's with winter tyres sat in the boot. Still wish I had it today.

My old one (no roof bars for the spotters):

Great cars, but shocking gearbox, even with a shortshift fitted.
The turbo lag does live up to the hype, but once in the sweet spot......

I have a few years of RS2 ownership and use, am a loss re cooments of quality re gearbox/gear change. However, mine is good and was not abused before I bought it. Clutch went at 100k and wasnt too expensive to replace.
The gearbox in mine is sweet and the ratios fine for me and its performance, we re-engineering the gear linkage and used phos/bronze to machine bushes etc for a precision linkage - now always appreciate the precision change and remember the box is geared to encourage turbo performing its task.
Also, as I have years of turbo cars (japs first) i am used to achieving performance with their issues, RS2 is not a stamp on the pedal type of car, much more of a wind it on and a good one will make you shuffle in the driving seat and probably sweat a touch.

I own an Audi S6 2.2. For what it cost to tune and fix (engine blew a week after buyinhg it), I could have bought a RS2. Would have made sound financial sense 7 years ago!

still have mine, cant bear the thought of selling it, some tidying up this year, two tyres and it tucked up away from the salt, it t/t so can come out in the sunshine at anytime and make me smile - a dainty speeder.
