that said a TT really isn't a sports car, it's just a flash looking 'normal' car...

Dave
According to PH editorial it is "fine exponent of the sportscar breed" and " with sweeping side-lines and pert rear the TT is an instantly-recognisable status symbol and looks good in almost any colour"

It's not a diesel hatchback at all. It's a sports car apparently.

Is the TTRS as petrol hatchback then or a sportcar?

I'd say it was a coupe myself.

Correct IMO. It is a very fast coupe.

It's perhaps hard to classify what is a sports car and what isn't.

It's not difficult with the TT though, As much as I like it there is no way it's a sports car. Petrol or diesel.

There's always plenty of argument about what a sports car is. For me is the type of car. i.e. a saloon is a 4 door with a boot, a coupe is a sleek 2 door with a hatch, a sports car is a 2 door, 2 seat convertible.

However, for others a sports car is more about it's performance. i.e. the majority would call a 911 a sportscar, yet my definition would say that it isn't. I'd say it was a sports coupe.

There will never be universal agreement though.

I see plenty of diesel TT cabrios. My next door neighboor has a diesel Audi A4 cabrio. What's that all about? Mad.
The sound of that roaring torque kicking in is amazing.
