With you when it's the new format, but I do like the old Birmingham/ Middlesex 'O', 'OO' and 'OOO' plates...and the reversed versions, all sold by DVLA. Just unusual...
Is that where OO plates came from then? We have two OO plates in our household, interested to know the background to the prefix.

Only if they're either OO or a letter followed by OO such as XOO.

Then I think I'm right in saying that it originates from Birmingham. It's the OB bit that indicates its origin.

UGO 2 BOB on a Mondeo taxi on the M62 this afternoon. Desparate.

Also, a Porsche Carrera S with OUI 9115 or OUI 911S. Couldn't be sure if the 5 had been rounded off or not so may not deserve to be here. Great looking car in any case.
Neither of the latter two is a valid combination - OUI not issued in Northern Ireland and I not allowed in the rest of the UK. Most likely highly bodged...
OUI 9115 shows up as a 2005 911 on 'my car check', although funnily it calls it an estate. hehe
Ah - well done, raceboy. My book of 'plates doesn't include OUI, but it only goes up to the early 2000s.

'O xxxx' was issued from 1904 - 1913 by Birmingham. They then skipped '00' and '000' when they would have been in sequence in 1926 and 1935, presumably because of the possible confusion. However, when combinations started to run out these were then issued, '00 xxxx' in 1961 and '000 xxx' in 1962, both by Essex. All 'reverse' variants are DVLA sales.

Thought it looked very clever, a Bentley and HEV 1N (Heaven), but strangely enough didn't come up on askmid

Just thought I would tag this on as well, thats my boot open, and an abandoned trolly, obviously 15 paces to the trolly park area is 15 to far for some to return them to. Lazy barstewards.

Ooh, saw a cracker recently, didn't get a photo unfortunately.

Saw it side on coming out of a T junction first off, black 911 Turbo on a set of sexy alloys, 'niiice', I thought.

Bit later on it passed me and I realised it had some godawful cheapie aftermarket exhaust that made it sound like a Maccie D Corsa and the number plate...

This is not the worst offender, but I remember the first time seeing it a few years back and being taken aback somewhat. Just those letters in that combination and my initial thoughts...

Appologies for the horrible photo, I'd ran out of screenwash.

T20Y UK. Not terrible, as atleast the correct type face but 'Troy UK'(?) on a grey BMW diesel...

It was parked in Retford, North Nottinghamshire; not far from the owner's business.

It's an app called MyCarChek. Would it be on there if it was a traders car?

I think it depends.. I believe if it's on 'trade' insurance, it might not specifically be on the MID as being insured, but his insurance would still be valid under the trade policy. The owner/trader may need to ask add that vehicle/registration to the database(?), so to avoid being flashed up on ANPR etc.

I do find it a bit strange that people use AskMid to do quick registation checks when there's far better free ones available - and you're not meant to check random cars on the AskMid website anyway.
