Indeed. I'll never get why anybody with the means to drive desirable or interesting cars would choose to drag any of them right down to the vulgarity of a Essex council estate Chavwagon by choosing to display the numberplate illegally.

I don't get private plates , it seems to me as it's a bit , look at me I'm important ? I'm 50 by the way so don't say I'm a schoolboy who can't afford one !
I see it as the same reason you decorate your house or choose the colour or trim level of your car; Personalisation, not privatisation. I don't see either as a display of self importance.

How do I get this page off 'My Stuff'. I must have contributed at some point, but, it's now just annoying me!

When I see one that is butchered, I think that they are a knob.

Is that snobbish? Either way, that's my immediate thought.

Not snobbish at all. You have become aware that anybody whose prepared to blatently ignore the law for no other reason than to pump up their own vanity is indeed a knob.

On the face of it an illegal plate may just be slightly incorrect spacing or subtle change of font or a couple of strategically placed bolts - no big deal really - but when you consider the fk the law attitude deliberately choosing display a registration illegally represents it becomes a very big deal indeed.

It all depends how they're doing it.

For me there is a world of difference between printing A12 BBB As A1 2BBB, and the other method of using studs and fonts to completely misrepresent letters. The latter should have the plate canceled with no chance for them to rectify first as it was very clearly pre-planned and "fk it, I'll do what I like"
