What excatcly is the problem here?.... People's overactive mind and imaginations??!! the plate says N19GAR FFS! as far as i can see, you have to change 3 of the 6 digits to get the word i presume you're thinking of! No wonder Ba Ba black sheep & the Black & White Minstrels have been f@*ked off! Apart from that.. they call each other it all the time!! ... well they do in the films i watch. redface
You're not from around here are you, son?

Followed a nice F Type jag driven by an upper-middle aged gentlemen. Plate looked like F 7YPE and was spaced like that which I thought made the car look cheap.

Pulled up behind it and it was E 7YPE with tape over the bottom of the E.

Incredible.

Yesterday on the M3 I saw a car with the plate "LE06 AUG" which had been spaced as "LE0 6 AUG"

I can only assume that the car has been strapped to a rocket today and is being fired into Low Earth Orbit.

Or it could be something to do with Astrology, I guess. smile

I saw a Jaguar XKR-R parked in a disabled space (with the correct Disabled badge in the window) at Waitrose the other day whose plate said "Fast OAP" but I can't for the life of me remember the exact lettering that made it.

There were a whole bunch of crappy plates that I spotted during a bike ride yesterday, but the only one I can recall after two hours riding in the rain topped off with a puncture two miles from home was...

J 7OW U on a big red 18 tonne, 13 litre DAF XF recovery/tow truck, the type/size used to recover articulated lorries and buses off the motorway. Spotted in Guildford.

I can confirm that "Leo" is also a first name - perhaps the owner of that car has that name and was born on 6 August?

Why is it possible in the UK to get hold of these butchered plates?! Where do people buy them from and who is making and selling them? Surely it is totally illegal.

I don't know about other countries but in Germany and NL you have to buy plates from an official source. It simply isn't possible to get them anywhere else. You have to show your ID and docs for the car. If you want to replace a plate, the old one has to be handed in so no duplicates. (Unsure exactly how it works if plates are stolen).

you have to get issued a new number. If you had a 'wunschkennzeichen' in Germany, your own choice of number, that number gets locked for 10 years and you can't have it again. Even if only one plate is lost or stolen

A fair point. smile

Although my geek side likes to think that the owner has long had a dream of getting into space and that it is being realised today. biggrin

Because you can buy plates online that are "show plates" (as in "car show", as in "not for use on public roads"). Obviously it is up to the purchaser what they do with them.

Or more simple, born on 6th August, Star sign would be Leo.

From a copy of Fast Ford I was reading today:

SOS ASBO / SO54 SBO on a Focus ST.
GARY A created from G13 RYA with an interesting use of spacing and coloured caps.
MUM'S BOY created from MUM 580Y and utilising a black cap for the apostrophe.

And 2 from other threads on here:

You have to admit, though, that "FA57 OAP" on a disabled badge toting Jaguar XKR-R is pretty rad. I get it anyway

Respect.
