This reminds me of the audiophile community that absolutely rejects MP3s for their inferior sound fidelity. Which makes sense because alot of the electronic sounds that are all the rage today are engineered to sound good for iphones and their free earbuds, rather than a fully fledged sound system. Which might also explain why instrument development has essentially stopped since the late 19th century since recording mediums were introduced. The sounds instruments and vocalists overwhelm recording mediums that erase 90% of the sound spectrum. So now the industry reverses their efforts to match the sound fidelity for earbuds rather than actual ears.

Take Lotus or Morgan for example, their chances of survival depends on how interesting their cars are since they make very few cars at very low volume with outdated technology. Porsche and Ferrari have left behind their days of small scale manufacturing and now sell whatever "sells". We know that the first generation Boxster and 996 jumpstarted Porsche's streak of profitability to the point of once attempting to swallow VAG. So it's a change of philosophy really. Brand building is prioritised over building something interesting to drive. Dany Bahar's attempt to resuscitate Lotus was just that too, an all out assault for brand building.

Quite agree. I was thinking, considering how many different cars there are, there isn't actually that much choice. I'd love a modern version of the MGB-GT.....

What I love most is this:

"The "new" Porsche 911 "S"!!

Now with extra 25 BHP (as if anyone would need this incremental little extra power), 10mm wider tires/1" bigger diameter (why didnt you put them on in the first place), "improved" brakes and suspension (why didnt you get it right in the first place) and slightly bigger exhaust ends (why didnt you...). "

If they are really pushing the boat, then:

"The "new" "limited edition" Porsche 911 "GT-S" (or "S4 GT", or "4S Grand Sport" or "GT4S" or...)

See above, plus "special steering wheel" with, wait, "smaller diameter", and "alloy pedals which are drilled" to "save weight".

Repeat after "new" 911 has been introduced.

They either did get it right in the first place and are just changing it for the sake of changing it -potentially decreasing the performance or utility in to pander to fashion.

Or they just did enough to be "better" than the old model and then "improve" it incrementally every year.

Whatever, it's all guff.
