You could get the E36 in all the 124 body styles - I did a story in a former life on a guy who had one of each. A wagon would do very nicely thank you! Very rare cars though, especially in the UK. I'll have to dig out the article to find out which was the most scarce but IIRC it might have been the saloon.

I suspect they were the cars that were sold through Avantgarde over the last year or so. The coupe is still there:Dan

They've also got another E36 Coupe and a 500E for sale there, and a Hammer!!!!
The E60 is probably my second favourite super-saloon, only marginally pipped by the E34 Alpina B10 Bi-Turbo

The owner, Jay, is a regular poster on MBclub.co.uk. A few members there bought cars off him and had good experiences. I should add I don't know or have ever dealt with Mercland and am not a regular poster on MBclub, but I've not seen anything to change my opinion on what I've read in the past
I know Jay quite well (both in person and on MBClub and he's as good as his reputation. I know a few guys who've bought cars from him and all have been happy. Hope to take a look at this car soon, if it's still around when I take mine up for a service. sorrel said:

Yep, if wasn't for the tax complications it would be a great flydrive home adventure.
Oh, and can you imagine the palava discussing the model type with the insurance company? Gonna need some patience and stamina for that phone call.
What tax complications? Finland is part of the EU, has been since the mid-90's. The owner has even worked out shipping to Tilbury for £801.Oh, and can you imagine the palava discussing the model type with the insurance company? Gonna need some patience and stamina for that phone call.

For £2K less you could get a fully ramped & stamped R129 with the same engine & half the miles. Not as rare I grant you, but just as quick & you can go roofless. But it's not a four-seater you cry. You can get 4 people in a 129 if they are prepared to suffer; I well recall a lap of Silverstone with 3 six footers on board, driven by my wife (5'2''). I remember thinking that this was what it must have been like being Hitler - riding in the back of a topless Benz. Benzes from the early 1990s were very well made, especially the SL. Now if it was an E500 wagon on offer...

Eek, you're quite right- didn't read that very well.Link to MBClub post - www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/spotted-ebay/140280-w124-e...
I wonder how difficult is would be to make a 500E cabrio, using a wheezy E220 cab and a borked 500sl for the motor. I don't know what modifications Porsche had to do but as far as I can tell the main components were standard Merc performance kit. Or perhaps a 500e estate. Having had an RS6 and currently own a 500sl I would say it would make for a very satisfying load lugger come Q car... If only I was more mechanically minded I would love to have a bash at either of those...

I'm sorry 7k for a 20 year old barge? If you want a big German v8 there are plenty of BMW's out there half the age and a a third of the price and they will drive a lot better too
Whilst that may be true, cars like this 500E represent much more than just being a V8 barge for me. An E39 M5 is probably a superior car technically in every imaginable way (and I'm a massive BMW fan), but I want a 500E so much moregetawayturtle said:

The E36 which was a 3.6 litre version of the E320, available in convertible and estate forms (not sure about coupe and saloon). However, they're as rare as hen's teeth mainly I think because they were very expensive when new. I think there was also an E34 which was based on the earlier E300 but I'm not sure if that was available in RHD.
I have an E36 estate. Great car. Once I no longer need the estate a 500E is on my shortlistjoema said:
