With so many popular fast cars adorned with blingy shouty and shiny trinketery I am left wondering what fast "stealth" cars are out there ?

My 2007 Audi A3 Quattro Sport 3.2 V6 is an example. Nice and quick in all weathers but looked like any other A3 - your sage advice please ?

E39 M5, looks the same as most e39 5 series cars as BMW put the M kit on everything (practically) during those years. The real clue is quad exhausts from the rear though, so not stealth from the rear.

0-60 in 4.8 seconds stock

or even stealthier... a 3 ton pickup that will do 0-60 in 6 seconds from the factory

Audi S4. Quite often less showy (especially debadged) than the run of the mill S-line versions but goes like stink smile

Precisely why I have one! v8 / S4 badges coming off at the weekend, too...

Jag S-Type R. Even owning one I can never tell what other S-Types are unless given a bit of time to look. Unless it's the diesel one!

I can hear the depreciation on that from herelaugh

I do wonder what goes through the minds of people who come up with these cars sometimes - exactly who will a 3.6 V6 Skoda appeal to?

OK, it's not straight out of a VX showroom but it is kinda fun, my lads "1.2" Corsa SXi+ just lowered a bit, nice wheels and knocking out in excess of 270BHP, wolf in sheeps clothing that scares the crap out of VXR's, Type 'R's, 'ST's and the like.

How fast is fast? And do you have a budget in mind?

Either way the correct answer is probably something modified. All standard cars are restricted in design and price.

Also there's two kinds of stealthy....

-boring and bland

-something very different that while it might stand out, just isn't likely to be expected to be quick

I personally know of two people, got rid of his V8 S Type for one to do about 15K PA in and loves it the other has one to do roughly 35/40,000K PA in. Both throughly decent people who are more interesting than those who'd opt for the sensible diesel option!

The Czechoslovakian dignitaries that the superb was originally designed for I would imagine.

Probably the worst group of cars available, and I'm not surprised the first answer is an Audi as they seem to specialise in making something underneath look bland from the outside.

1. These cars are never really stealthy. I mean bog standard cars don't have 20 inch flash alloy wheels with 10+ inch wide tyres. They don't have 4 exhaust pipes. And they don't have red calipers.

2. Why hide something good? Would you put a Citizen watch face on Rolex mechanicals?

Oh my sweet potato...

Take the badges off and nobody would know. (I have selected the estate as it, in my opinion, looks better than the saloon/hatch.

Shame it's no longer based on an Audi platform. 4.2 V8 anyone?

ETA: I now want to build a torsen quattro 4.2 V8 Skoda Superb B5.

Alas, I have a distinct lack of time, money, and most importantly, skills.
