Mercedes-Benz E500 T, preferably in beige.

4.7-litre, twin-turbo V8 putting out 408 HP, capable of 0-60 in about 4.6-4.8 seconds.
Really?! I knew they were quick, but not that quick!
They just keep getting quicker.

The previous n/a 5.5 would do 0-60 in low to mid 5's.

My older 5.0 is in the high 5's. Still feels incongruous when I give the family bus the beans.

Same goes for A6 4.2's and 545's etc.

Gentlemen, I present Stealth.

But being serious for a moment, I would contend that 'stealthy' is the wrong description. Perhaps 'unexpectedly' quick?
Another serious comment - I've lusted after a debadged, unadorned E500 for a long while now smile
What a terrible suggestion. JR, you're dead to me. wink

I dont get this. E500 is a 5.4l yet you mention a 4.7l twin turbo? No such car exists as far as i can tell.

That's because it's in stealth mode........?

My bad; it seems the car isn't available in the UK.

German specification: http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/germany/mpc/mp...

I would be surprised - the E55 AMG which supposedly always had ~500bhp and a hell of a lot more torque than the 500 - did 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.

I would be surprised if the heavier and less powerful E500 is as quick 0-60.

OK, it's not straight out of a VX showroom but it is kinda fun, my lads "1.2" Corsa SXi+ just lowered a bit, nice wheels and knocking out in excess of 270BHP, wolf in sheeps clothing that scares the crap out of VXR's, Type 'R's, 'ST's and the like.

For those who scoffed at my lads 'Ned Corsa' last year please find some images of the finished article after it dyno'd at 326BHP at the flywheel with 309ft/lb torque.

Not a fan of the morettes (on any car for that matter), but as I said before I love the rest of the car!

Fairly subtle too, should give the SRI boys with loud exhausts a bit of a fright biggrin

Try Imprezza STi's and S3 Audi's along with many others.

It is just personal preference, I know a lot of people like them and they are a very popular mod on lots of cars. Not for me though, always preferred OEM!

Got any videos of the Corsa?

Machine polished by himself using products all purchased from www.polishedbliss.co.uk

This is a level headed young lad that cares as much about his cars appearance as how it goes and sounds.

Surely with all that power on the front wheels it just spins for days?

Dont see it beating a scooby or evo from a standing start.

Did I actually give the parameters of the claim? On this open (to plod) forum I would neither disclose or discuss the subject anyway. The car was built as a project for the lad to self-learn how to engineer more power in to it, not to go out being a hooligan on the road. I'd say he'd fulfilled that.

With new Toyo Proxies on the driven wheels the torque steer is no where near as bad as we had expected, We've tried it on private land and found it to be a handful but very manageable surprisingly.

No you didn't CJ, hope you're not spoiling for another argument like last time though.

Well done on the project, now go get a nice looking car and do the same. biggrin

I note that it is still declared to the DVLA as 1229cc.

I don't like the car but I admire the engineering that must have gone into it.

ETA. As others have said, it isn't stealthy either.
