A BMW coupe with two big exhausts out the back isn't going to surprise anyone when it's quick IMHO.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the following to you:

The Volvo V40 Cross Country T5. Not to everyone's taste and I think I'd prefer other things for its rather expensive price, but passers by won't expect something that can do 0-60 in 6.0 seconds.

Anyone mentioned the S40 T4 yet? many of these produced a fair bit more than the Volvo claimed 200bhp as standard.

0-60 in 6.7 seconds, 150mph - Looks near enough standard apart from the small spoiler and the massive oval exhaust - even the alloys look like wheel trims.

They're hilarious. I've put 30K on mine since I bought it and it has been great. Easy to get 32+mpg if you take it easy and also puts quite a few modern cars to the sword if you put your foot down. Decent front tyres are a must as is keeping the suspension in semi decent shape, it's easy enough as parts are dirt cheap. My shed has been great so far. Anonymous, quick(ish), leather and a bit quirky.
I passed up the chance to buy a T4 identical to that for £300 last year! I'm still upset about it now frown

Another vote from me here. We had one in the early '00's when we lived in Germany. It was hilarious on the autobahn. It was so much fun (figuratively speaking!) pulling the pants down and smacking the bottoms of all sorts of German 'bahnstormers who thought they could barge you out of their way.

Much depends on what type of car user; their values and viewpoint.

In my experience, that's one of the few actual stealth cars mentioned on this thread.

The way many car consumers see things, as opposed to car the enthusiasts viewpoint, ALL BMWs, AUDIs, Mercedes and Diesels are fast so few if any of those will be considered stealth. Rightly or wrongly.

There again another well known fact. All Rovers are slow and are driven by the aged. One or two contributors on this "stealth" thread have reinforced this widespread myth. With that in mind when I deploy the abilities of this good old boy, I never tire of seeing the look of surprise on the faces of those who believe they are driving 'superior' means of getting about because of the badge. Like the 330ci driver who pulled up alongside me one time and asked what I had done to the car that it should go so well. I suspect he did not believe me when I told him it was a bog standard 620ti and simply well maintained.

The car usually has plain silver standard ti six spoke alloy wheels in silver but in winter, on go these white wheels with Rainsports.

Now in my view, that's a stealth car.

Stealthy in much the same way as the mobile plod in a plain clothes Bee-em who stopped me in the small hours stating "You were a bit brisk there Sir" .... that has happened to me on more than one occasion. A brisk Rover must be up to no good ... or maybe they wanted someone to talk to in the small hours and tick a box on their worksheets. Yeah, that's it ... wink

There again, maybe I have misunderstood and failed miserably to grasp this stealth thing .. hehe

+1 for the T4 and Ti.

My grey 600Ti was perfect for daily discreet 'swift' commuting through the Cotswolds without attracting the ire of locals or plod, hence buying something understated without the swagger and aggressive 'LOOK AT ME!' grilles, lights and badging of many current cars.

The old Accord Type R (sans rear spoiler), Legacy, Forester and Saab 93/95 turbos had similar qualities, swift without shouting about it and realistically as fast as you really need for commuting in the UK IMO.

Thread resurrection...... biggrin Looking possibly to get this. Skoda Superb 3.6 AWD. I know it was mentioned earlier in the thread and this view shows it with its summer rims which are a bit non-stealth I admit (but with the winter steelies and tyres included.... wink ). It's a Swiss dealer edition that 'tricks' them up a bit (uprated ARB's, bilstein shocks and de-badge).

Yes...that's very true. Too subtle to be 'subtle'. Drove it yesterday and it really is sublime. Over the past two weeks I have driven the BMW 530 Xdrive, Passat R36 and Audi 3.2 TFSI A6 avant and a Legacy tourer spec B. Need to stick to 6 cylinders for car tax reasons here in Swiss. Value for money (my budget in Swiss francs circa £15k) nothing really gets close to the Skoda. Decision not made yet but definitely leaning towards the Skoda for value for money, equipment and oomph. And I like white smile

This was mucho fun, the only giveaway being the cage & the wheels but as most people thought it looked like an odd 80's Toyota Camry it added to the fun element, tempted to build another one in full on grandad spec, peashooter exhaust & retain the OE 14" wheels etc.

Underneath the bonnet, 500bhp & a screamer pipe

Not in the slightest. But either way it's C.A.F.

Sold the first one as it was proving to be difficult to run and insure such a car at the age of 22. The second one had a few more issues than I expected, didn't do my homework when buying it and got stung by the seller so it was sold on for parts. I'll probably end up getting another one as I like them so much.
A couple of years later from the post above...

Is that stealth enough for this thread?

Depends. Is that the rare stealth-massive-bodykit and matching stealth-big-spoiler?
