Hopefully no need to 're-create' the engine noise.
Certainly not, i hope it'll sound like the XKR-S!http://youtu.be/SWI53bYs7LE
That was a fun couple of days, never got bored of the noise...
I love Jaguar (I have a XJR) but I'm getting tired of all manufacturers creating a whole new model by simply adding 50hp. Back in the day a special model would have had 200hp more. What's wrong with the standard XFR? I thought that was supposed to be the "ultimate" Jag saloon. Now 50hp, a stupid looking wing and some paint and they have a whole new car??? I'm getting more cynical with age.
And just before anyone makes the comment "so you want 700hp you immature child???". No I'm quite pleased with 400...

I wish Jaguar would pull their socks up. Their top performance models have been lagging at the back of the field for a few generations now. This performance would have put jaguar on the map in 2000 but today it's going to disappear into the mists.
A mercerdes rivalling 600hp, 200mph super saloon would have had the press talking and order books filling.
Jaguar used to be about engineering achievements. The fastest in class, the gentleman's rocket sled.
This trend of producing yet another marketing variation, slower than the benchmark m5 that leads the way in absolutely nothing is getting tedious.

I hadn't read these responses when I posted but yes! +1And just before anyone makes the comment "so you want 700hp you immature child???". No I'm quite pleased with 400...
I own a 2010 XFR and love it except for the noise it makes. I came from a C63 AMG to the Jag - the Germans certainly knew how to make a proper V8 noise. I've recently replaced the XFR back boxes with some from Spires and it has made the world of difference. I only hope that Jag do something similar to the XFR-S. Otherwise, I love the look of it, although agree with the comments about the rear spoiler. Maybe it will be a delete option as I wouldn't buy it with one...

Aw, that wing killed it!
It was looking mean in the first shot. No wings on Jags please!
(And THAT colour! )
Let me get this straight. The wing isn't subtle enough but that obnoxious colour is ok? It was looking mean in the first shot. No wings on Jags please!

How does that work?
I think it would look fantastic, WITH the wing, but in a slightly less mid-life-crisis-penis-extension colour.
Uh oh, that wing is gonna upset the Victoria Beckham image-conscious types.
I must admit I'd rather take the performance hit and be able to see out the back. Oh well, at least you know it will sound a lot better than the M5, ride well and go like stink.
I think Jaguar are missing a trick not giving it more power than the M5, though. I think a lot of people will look at them being so similar on paper and choose the M5 based on the badge. Giving it say, 600hp, would give people more of a reason to choose it over its more established rivals. Plus I'm a firm believer in the notion that you can never have enough power.

No, I'm not going for the 'subtle'. Some things look wrong and that includes Jags with wings. How does that work?

As for that colour, I concede it is shouty, but a XFR-S IS shouty, it just doesn't need a stupid-WRX-STi wing to do that. Shouty colour is fine by me if Jaguar want to appeal to a younger audience and I'm a young guy (no penis extensions necessary).

To be fair the car at Bonneville was tuned within an inch of it's life, had masses of aerodynamic changes and loads of weight in the boot to get grip on the salt.
Significantly changed from the road car.
You can go and see it at Gaydon Heritage Centre (it was there a month or two back when I went anyway)Significantly changed from the road car.
The XFR-S should be a great car, hopefully it will drive as well as it looks and become a real alternative in the German AMG/RS/M dominated super saloon arms race.
In the wake of the recently introduced 4 pot diesel XF Jag desperately needed to compete with the Germans in the fleet market, its brilliant to see they havent forgotten whats really important and produced this. I just hope that rear wing is optional.
