A Merc CL500 of similar original list price and vintage can be had for half the asking price of this QP so depreciation on the Maserati aint so bad ...

O/T but I purchased a car from those guys a couple of years ago and they were great - very knowledgeable, and openly like to keep stock moving (only a small place), so always price it competitively.Out of the two, my money would go on the Maserati - it looks and sounds a lot more special, and I understand there is huge bork potential on both, so that's not a huge factor either way.
Brilliant motor and seriously tempted for one should I part company from the M5 anytime soon. I looked at 3200 and 4200's but the horror stories put me off (esp the 3200) but I think I'd put all of that behind me and get one of these. It's between this and the GranSport for the next motor I reckon.

That might be a great car - but look at it. How do BMW manage such a mix of ugly and bland so well? g3org3y said:
A friend of mine bought one of these a couple of months ago — lowish miles, from a BMW dealer with a warranty and it's a complete crock. It's eaten a clutch and flywheel already and Be-em are refusing to cover it in the warranty, let alone the litany of other faults that have needed to be rectified in his two month ownership — I think it's spent more time back at the dealers than it has on the road. It's just come second from last in the Warranty Direct feedback on claims for least reliable car as well.g3org3y said:

Recently bought a 3200GT myself based on similar thought processes. Maserati's have a special feel and certainly the V8 has plenty of character.
Like all cars that cost 70k plus the costs of maintaining them doesn't get cheaper however there's lots of independents out there to manage the wallet.
Overall these cars look different and are enjoyable to drive.

You need up your count by telling us more about your 3200GT.
I think they are so good looking and rare, As my mid life crisis is in full swing I'd love one but will probably take the "safe" 911 option.
Had one of these a few years back and there is simply nothing else quite like it (positive and negative). BUT, you are buying with your heart not your head. The auto is so much better than the DuoSelect but still not quite up to where the market standard is.
There is still nothing that looks as good with a 4 door body in my opinion, and the reaction you will get from driving this is extraordinary.
I'm not going to be negative about it as I still have a huge quattroporte shaped hole in my life, so to sum up my experience:
Lusted after one of these for ages
Fought the sense-demons and bought one
'Lived' with it (money/time pit)
Sold it (money black hole)
Miss it incredibly...
Actually, I'm off to the classifieds to fight those damn sense-demons...
