MR2 Turbo night photography

Link removed because it's against forum rules and the video is probably dreadful (unconfirmed as I'm too lazy to watch it) and Danllama gives the impression that he might be an arse
It might just be me but I was put off immediately by the fact you're sitting outside your neighbour's houses, at 1.15 on a Sunday night running a loud boyracer type engine so you can film a dull segment of your blog. And apparently taking slight smug satisfaction in it pissing them off. It just makes me think you're a bit of an inconsiderate arse, sorry :/

Anyway, is this thread only for people to promote their own dubious quality youtube offerings now? Seems to be every other post recently.

It might just be me but I seem to be reading pathetic complaints like this on Pistonheads every day rolleyes It really is becoming more and more like mumsnet. Since when does a PHer refer to any engine as a 'boyracer' type engine? Do you work for the Mail or the Sun?

If I want to sit there and warm my car for 2 minutes while I chat to a camera, I will. If it makes you feel better I had pulled to the top of my road away from most of the apartments. There was no smug satisfaction there, I can assure you. I'm just a naturally smiley person and still getting used to the camera rolleyes

I'm pretty sure that it's actually against the forum rules, posting stuff that drives traffic to your own site / channel etc.

Some posts have been removed but others have stayed, maybe they have agreement from the mods?

Could do with some clarification.

Just to clarify, we do NOT allow members to promote their own clips, as it drives traffic away from the site.

If we see any or members report them then they will be removed. Needless to say that we don't read every post so if we miss any then please press the report button.

In that case both Pedal Loud (M3 bs 996) and Danllama (rubbish MR2 vlog) are simply posting their own Youtube vids just up there somewhere^^

Yes, I'm not the only one doing it, in fact supercar driver recently promoted his sublime f40 video with no complaints. You can't pick and choose.

I also see japveesix has edited my link out and resorted to name calling me in my own post.

You might want to change that or I will be escalating a complaint against you. You might also like to point out why you think the video is dreadful, using constructive criticism, instead of fixating on 10 seconds of the intro. It's a video about car photography at night, and I think it's insightful and well put together for anybody interested in those things, which I don't think you are.

I don't see how posting car related videos in a remote thread on PH is driving traffic away from the site. Can somebody explain that one? I'll just get a friend to post it on my behalf in the future, because that's ok rolleyes

Edited that for you, please call off the lawyers, or hit squad, or whatever it was you had planned.

Ps. Just let me know if you need me to post your next thrilling video for you.

Thanks.

Just had an email saying my post has been removed. Even though I clearly stated it's something I had made for TV and had just uploaded to YT to share with those on PH who might want to watch online. It has had a whopping 300 views on YouTube. I'll bet Haymarket are stting themselves at all the lost traffic that caused and I'm waiting for my cheque to come through from YouTube, it's £100 a hit right?

I am not feeling the love for PH lately.
Don't get all bent out of shape over it, it's not personal; either the rules apply to everyone, or they apply to no one, unless you have an argument for special treatment in your case?

There's an argument to be made that every link to another site "drives away traffic" from PH, whether it's a content creator's own YT channel, a completely unrelated YT channel or a Daily Wail link; so (to PH mods) why have the rule at all, why not allow all (motoring-related) YT videos?

It is an almost contradictory rule, but there must be hundreds of posters here with their own YT channels, wesbites etc. I'm sure it's in place to stop people self promoting their own stuff.

That said every link we post drives traffic to someone's channel.

ETA - As an amusing twist, my soon-to-be-ex-wife found out about my new girlfriend when she saw this film being broadcast on TV and sent me a snotty text asking who the blonde isbiggrin
That is a beautifully cool video! I love it.

That's a win win :-)

I don't quite get the hipster lifestyle thing(being 50) but I do like the bobber/brat/retro bike scene. It feels a very British custom style as opposed to the more traditional US/Europe chopper/bagger/lowrider themes. The Morgan seems to fit in and draw a crowd in any gathering

not sure about that fella....the whole bobber thing couldn't be more american if it tried! I'll warrant the whole cafe racer thing started here but its been well and truly bastardised since
