I'm not really a fan of the test fifth gear did, a sensationalist approach, yes it highlights the susceptibility of an impact into a solid structure at 70mph, and the damage sustained but I don't really think it's a fair test as in 'real world'. The likely hood, I would say of that type of crash, head on with no amount retardation through braking, steering or loss of control (spinning, bouncing off) would be a very small chance to hit something like that. I don't know how they test for NCAP, is it set crash scenarios or tested at every possible angle and circumstance.

Having watched that young drivers programme where they are filmed by their parents and then assessed by that ex traff plod, and just how badly they can drive and pay attention to the road, I can very much believe that someone could do that!
