I had one and will again one day, absolute brilliant to drive once the mivec kicks in, parts can be an expensive problem. A guy has 2 for sale on ebay for £9000 the pair if only i had the money and space.
My old car
Me: That's a good look.... LOW PROFILE TYRES?My old car
Sorry mate, car looks lush but those wheels/tyres are just a mortal sin.
I owned one of these many years ago and ran it for about two years, it's a Paris/Dakar homologation type vehicle I used to suprise many a sports car at the trafic lights although cornering was as you would expect but pretty good when you fitted Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres to it. It was never a mud plugger but designed to fly over sand dunes at 100 mph it actually won the Paris Dakar for a few years. It never skipped a beat, never cost me loads of money but would only run nicely on Optimax/V-Power you need to drive one to get the point. If you check my profile you will see that I also owned an Isuzu Vehi-cross too great little flying machine too both very underated below the normal radar/mainstream choice but quirky and quick.

truly a quirky vehicle- but always thought they looked quite interesting. Was it a reasonably car to live with day to day?Edited by BIRMA on Wednesday 28th November 15:38

I'd be hard pressed to decide what was the better one, but for on-road performance the Vehi-Cross had the edge due to its trick suspension and drive system which was, I believe the forunner of BMW's X drive system. I took the Isuzu badge off because the main importer of Isuzu refused to acknowledge their existence and were unbelievably unhelpful in every respect so I had a Lunar Rover badge made which people who asked believed it was. I used to get parts from the States (half price and twice as quick)as there is a big following for them there and the forum proved to be very helpful. I used to say to people 'they are Japanese they don't go wrong' and I never had cause to regret that statement both ran like clockwork with no issues over each two year period of ownership.Edited by BIRMA on Wednesday 28th November 15:56

I might be wrong but isn't "Pajero" wker in Spanish? i think that's why the rebadged it Shogun for certain markets.
From the Urban Dictionary ....Spanish slang word meaning 'He who fiddles with himself for sexual gratification'.
Unknowingly used by a major automobile manufacturer who took the more academic translation of the word to mean 'Straw Dealer'

The RVR was hilarious, it looked like a Japanese Mum`s car (the type who wouldn`t care about cars AT ALL) but it had a detuned EVO 6 engine in it, squat under acceleration was almost as funny as the dive under braking, it was "funny fast" though!
Very much Johnny Cab styling from Total Recall Tdo4 rather than the Evo td05 and slightly less aggressive cams, but, all totally interchangeable if thats your thing Easy 300+ bhp with the td05 I do like these a lot but I've been put off from ever seriously considering one by their bespoke nature - parts, insurance & service costs - together with a look I'm not entirely comfortable with. They are also too small for a winter hack. There is a good source of information on the POCUK forum with a dedicated Evo section here:

I can suggest a rarer, LWB Shogun (petrol) turbocharged alternative too. Converted by BBR in the late 1980's here's my 'project' – lots of details in Readers Cars.

Hi guys...
First post on here..! But when I saw the pajero evolution, thought I should add my two- pennies worth...
I bought a silver manual version 3 years ago,, (I had been holding out for a manual, as the performance is far superior.. And the "tiptroniic" gearbox ive never liked..)
I've never been a 4x4 fan.. But living in the peaks and having been snowed in for 2 weeks, this was the only option I would consider,...
Another's have said-- fantastic fun to drive - with the proper tyres is an excellent off-roading tool... BUT-- it isn't subtle(!)
Divides opinion like no other car I have owned.. But soo many people stop to admire it... (I've had over a dozen offers from people wanting to buy it too...)....
Parts aren't as ridiculous as everyone says-- AND-- they are appreciating in value...(!) mine cost £5000...
Fuel economy is poor -- (20 mpg is an achievement -- but-- I have LPG converted mine so feels like 40mpg to my wallet)..
Its boot ain't big (especially with lpgtank--) but a decent Thule roofbox has solved that problem ...
I'm totally converted,..
So much so... I've just spent a few £k on a metallic black re-spray...
I'll post a picture up if I get chance.,

Also waited an absolute age for something like a stub axle!
I would love another in manual but it would have to look a bit "rough" rather than "pretty"
