RE: Spotted: Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution
Discussion
If you don't want to pay for one of these (and they're more expensive because they are rare and have motorsport pedigree) why not go for a 3.5 V6 SWB? They're 80% of the EVO (kind of an Evo I really) and still have the traffic-light ability.
They are reliable, very capable off-road and handle and go well on the road for what they are - kind of like a big chunky hot-hatch.
Just remember to get the cambelt replaced.

Brilliant fun on and off, I’ve driven a number over the years and have been looking for a really good one for a while, seemingly Impossible to find one in the UK, Mitsubishi UK Imported a few and sold through their dealer network ( JDM Models Imported under the SVA scheme ) Global Performance, later known as Ralliart UK Imported/retailed around 30. Pretty built proof, problem areas can be, Ball Joints & suspension arms and the dreaded rust bug for those that have been in the UK for up to 14 years without proper underseal/waxoyl. I've heard that a company in France have been buying quite a few of the UK registered ones for competition use.

I might be wrong but isn't "Pajero" wker in Spanish? i think that's why the rebadged it Shogun for certain markets.
Sort of, manual labourer is a more accurate translation.Apparently, it's very common for young Spaniards to laugh at, take pictures of etc. Pajertos when visiting Portugal, where the word means nothing. I doubt that would happen for the Mitsubishi Manual Labourer.

Yes, the wheels are far too big and tyres too thin.
Yes, I know this post makes me therefore a complete 'gypo'!
But...I have seen this car in the flesh and it just looks so hard in a Tonka/Tamiya Toy kind of way. Note the Ralliart mud flaps just in the shadows.
Flame me!
I agree with the Tonka toy look, I did go down the wheel change route but had to be careful because it always looked a bit 'pimp my ride' for my tastes, but as the extended wheel arches were standard on that model the standard wheels with decent tyres just looked right as the extended track made it a bit more stable in the corners when travelling quickly which I did a lot when I had mine because it was such a free revving willing engine. I still look back on my ownership as a very pleasant experience. I will try to dig out a picture of mine with the wheels I bought but they were not low profile.Yes, I know this post makes me therefore a complete 'gypo'!

Tonka toy or not they're just genuinely awful and would be if they were the right proportion too.Yes, I know this post makes me therefore a complete 'gypo'!

I've driven a few years back in the import days.Bonkers & equally hilarious at the same time.
I see these as having a potential future value: Rally Pedigree - check, Limited Production - check, good fun to own - check, they have always demanded a bit of premium - check & rare - check

Bit of a thread resurrection here but does anyone know what access is like to the back seats, and also what the boot space is like?
From photos I have seen the Recaros look like they block the whole door - not sure how much they slide / tip forward and if it's practical to get into the back or not?
These were my dream car for a while many years back but a small amount of practicality is required for the family!
If anyone who owned one could let me know that would be great.
Thanks!
