The back doesn't look too good but hey 40kg lighter. That's not bad. Looking forward to a back to back with a 911

Be I interesting to see if it has more legroom, as at 6ft I found it a bit cramped, especially after 400 mile test drive in 24 hrs wink. One of the best handling cars I've driven.

Looks much more cab rearward than the previous car. And an F Type is now only £10k more.... wink

"electro-hydraulic steering"... Next!
If it is electro-hydraulic that's surprisingly good news as it would be a conventional hydraulic rack driven by an electric motor rather than a belt driven pump.

Unfortunately it's overwhelmingly likely that it's the full electric (electro-mechanical) system as per 991 and 981.

Porsche do have an electro-hydraulic suspension system for limiting roll in the corners, unfortunately looks like there's nothing hydraulic in the steering.

Just right. The R/GT3 version of this is going to be legendary.

Looks great, I think Porsche are doing a great job with their cars at the moment. My only issue with this is a fake rear strut brace? WTF is that all about, if you are putting something across the boot that hinders access and what can be fit in it then at least it should be functional.

Sign me up!

I'm not totally convinced on the looks (however Porsches are very colour and spec sensitive) but you just know it’s going to be incredible to drive.

I like it. Didn't know the current Cayman was such a rarity.

Wonder if there's room in their line-up for a targa?

How about a awd Cayman 4S? Maybe even a compact shooting brake?

Okay, I'm being silly now.

yes I'm pretty sure it's the full electric setup. frown

Definitely a visual improvement over the old one, although I still can't like the back (of this, or indeed any recent Porsche).

"This time the rear window has a slight bow that means it doesn't disappear into the rear haunches like the old one"

That's a shame, I thought that was perhaps the best design feature of the old one that really separated it from the design of the other cars in the range.

This and the Boxster now have looks getting towards the talent of the drive. Those sculpted rear side vents really give it a whiff of supercar. I like very much

I would have the equivalent Boxster instead though, no question

The bottom picture of the yellow Cayman, has a slight F430 about it in its shape and look from the angle it is taken. Almost as if a F430 has been shortened.

Looks great and as Porsche are on form with their most recent cars sure it will drive dreat.

This looks promising, and I'm sure they'll be good reviews, but I can't help thinking - why would I buy this, and not a Boxster? In the Boxster, if you want you can drop the roof. I'd like to know what the Cayman will/can offer that the Boxster does not (beyond the obvious chassis rigidity comments).

It sort of made it look hunkered down and purposeful. Especially with the R model.

I like it! Although not feeling the wheels on the Cayman S in the last pic.

The current model looks better.
They have added a fake strut brace as a syling feature? WTF, a Halfords boy racer accessory? What next, a 5" tailpipe?

Looks and the feeling of security driving a proper tin top.

I'm really not sure and I say that as a fan of the Cayman. Some of the angles, the rear 3/4 shot that was in the OPC promo mail I got tonight made it look lovely but that last shot, the angles are all over the place. The most beautiful cars have lines that flow and I don't get that from these pictures. Maybe it has to be seen in the metal but I would have hoped that Porsche would have managed to use the best shots in their press releases.

I don't get all the negativity and criticism of Porsche's design department though. It's not like their evolutionary design approach is a surprise. We all know their product portfolio and protection of the 911 nameplate. The sneering is just boring and lazy. If we're going to pick on a design team, I'd like to nominate the team behind the Nissan Puke. They have a lot to answer for with that abomination.

I'm sure it's lovely, will be a great drive, but that's a lot of £/hp.
