If i bought a Forester i think i'd want it raised 2"-4" with some substantial Winter/AT tyres fitted to those 17" rims.

In my opinion if you're buying an old Forester it really ought to be green and gold. Maybe for example this very nice one here?

Yes, it's mine, and I'll be very sad to see it go. I've bought a diesel outback instead and it's just not as much fun.

We've got two Foresters; a 55 plate 2.5 XT and a 51 plate 2.0 non turbo (I'm up at this ungodly hour as my missus has just set off in this with our one year old to drive to Holland!). I have absolutely no doubt that they will arrive safely.
They are ansolutely superb cars. I have had Subarus since 2000, excepting a forray with a Nissan 350Z, though I kept a Forester as a clunker smile. In those twelve years the only mechanical failure I've experienced is a bulb blowing in the switch which controls the heated rear screen smile

The biggest problem is, as per comments above, what to replace them with. I don't want a Yeti, they're even more ugly than a Forester (on a par with the Fiat Multipla) plus the Haldex 4x4 system is crap compared to the Torsen diff in the Subaru. Nor do I want an Audi, for obvious reasons. Other softroaders don't measure up on the driving front, as I want more of an estate car than a tall SUV style.

Oh and a parting shot; I reckon Subaru UK are utter bellends. Japan is stuffed with Gen III Forester 2.5 Turbos and yet we don't get them in the UK. Anyone remember when the Impreza hatchback came out and they said they weren't going to import the WRX version, preferring instead to sell crappy 1.5's for more than Golf money? I reckon they're making the same mistake; not everyone wants a bloody diesel. Current Subaru UK sales fogures have completely collapsed, selling an astonishingly bad 2634 vehicles last year. If you realise Nissan sold 39,400 Quasqais, then this puts things in some perspective. Thanks for nothing, tossers!

(Edited to add my mum's got one as well!smile)

Perhaps I should have said quirky looks rather than ugly. I love them too, but they're not exactly eye candy IMO!

Supply and demand may come into play to a degree on this following post/comment but Subaru UK's part prices are a fking joke. An air/fuel sensor for a Legacy cost me £450.

Quoted price for a replacement exhaust to the Legacy was £1,000 just because the join between two gaskets in one section had corroded. Nope- Subaru UK don't sell the pipe/join seperately... only as a complete exhaust.

This is true, Subaru parts prices are very high speaking of Japanese mainstream cars...
