Lovely cars there. Was the remap the work of MapTun by any chance?
Thanks mate.

Nah, the remap was by Karl from UKSaabs. It was already on when I had the car.
Out of interest is that where your intending on getting a £70 remap done?

I haven't fully decided if I am going to get one done yet. But if I do get one, then yes. Why's that?

"The 69 auction listings include a handful of the 33 9-5 SportCombis built before the company imploded, a car that'll guarantee you global exclusivity, as long as you don't mind left-hand-drive"

Not quite true. Look through the stock and you'll find at least one RHD 9-5 Sport Combi.

These cars were never going to be out-and-out bargains, so don't blame PH for a bit of publicity - they're all over most motoring forums in Europe at the moment, including all the UK Saab sites.

Also, re roadworthiness - the UK runs a SVA scheme, so get the car SVA'd, and there's your roadworthiness.

PS I have also got one of Karl's '£70 remaps'. Amazing is all I'll say - so don't knock them. Give Abbott's £380 more if you feel the need to pay more for the same thing.

I'm not sure if that's directed at me, but I am not knocking them, I applaud them. I would use Karl for my 9-5 remap and judging by UKSaabs he has 100s of happy customers.

I've always quite liked the Turbo X. They can keep the rest.

He is a SAAB god - and there are very few who know mapping and the cars like he does.

I am researching remaps my 9-3 ss Aero, and I am not willing to spend £350+ to go with Maptun or Abbott!

I am unsure if Karl does the SS but get on UKSaabs if you aren't already and speak to him. His user is SaabNoob. Highly recommended.

£36,000 for a SAAB? That's a bit steep!
Won't sell for that. I wonder what reserves are set.

Apologies, there were 2 ends of the stick, and I picked the wrong one!

I spend the money once & once only at Abbotts. I won't say it was a mistake as they got 216.9bhp from my first 150bhp 9-5 LPT, but it was expensive. I've since had my eyes opened. Paptun - no thank you (ever).

He does :-)

Nope, as I said above, there are some RHD's in there too. The original article is plain wrong in that respect.

It has been reported the the 9-5 Sportcombi that are being sold cannot be driven on the road. Sorry to burst the bubble, but they were prototype ones. They never passed regulation, such as crash tests, therefore cannot be used. Still gorgeous though! Victor's car does seems appealing though, as does the 9-3 Independence Editions. A very rare car... only 30-odd cars were built.
Yes, ultra rare. Must be some loophole to get it on the road? I'm thinking could bring it over here and buy a donor UK spec saloon and clone the ID from that and convert to RHD at the same time.

Maybe a bit illegal ... but you'd end up with one hell of a unique car!

EDIT: No need for any of that, they have RHD ones:

The Auto diesel looks like a winner and bids are only up to £8.5k currently.... scratchchin

If any of these cars go for that sort of money the people must be mad. We have had a 9~5 Estate since new and the engine went after only 70 ish K with Full History at SAAB Main Dealer. The car was / is in great condition so another engine has gone in (we had no warranty at all even though it was a known issue), but that does cost lots and some parts are hard to get.

I took our car for an MOT only last week and saw a chap that had a 4x4 9~3 Estate that is only 2 or 3 years old. We had a chat and already he has spent over £3k on the diff as there is no warranty. He paid nearly £30k for it and reckons it is worth quite a bit less than £10k already.

I had to get some spares from the main dealer and these are still by government, new SAAB has been bought out and I was told they will be doing electric cars.

I wouldn't touch one of these 'New and Obsolete' cars with a barge pole.

These threads always amuse me, much like the TVR ones. People saying they'd love one and its such a shame they don't excist anymore. You could have had one (admitedly not the estate) but there was a time you could and nobody did.... Hence the current situation. You all bought 520d's instead wink

Welcome to Pistonheads. We're all getting an XFR-S each and I'm personally putting my name down for 5 F-Types and a couple of Lotus'.

Aston Martin is about to be downgraded by Moody's which is strange as we've just ploughed millions into that company since Skyfall came out.

"the final price will be closer to £40,000"

Unfortunately a manufacturer going bust because it made so few cars it couldn't pay its bills doesn't make a car rare or worth more, it makes the car almost worthless.

I'm in the (small) camp that thinks the new 95 looked brilliant... this doesn't mean i'd buy one for any more than a fraction of the competition (who would you sell it on to?). Unfortunately the modern cars are fairly worthless.
