the 7 year warranty is't all it seems, A relative of mine works at a Kia/ renault/SUBARU DEALERSHIP IN SOUTH WALES,just as an example recently a Kia Cee'd ,diesel came in with head gasket failure , the cylinder head was removed to examine and the gasket had failed, nothing drastic. The only parts Kia would allow as a repair was,a head gasket and rocker cover. no new timing belt,no new head bolts etc, etc.
shockingly poor, to be fair the dealership are not at fault they wanted to do "a proper repair" but were unable to do so.
this is a large dealership, and I found out that a few of the longer serving mechanics won't work on the Kia cars, because of the warranty issues the garage has with Kia.
Never heard of hg failure effecting timing belt before? shockingly poor, to be fair the dealership are not at fault they wanted to do "a proper repair" but were unable to do so.

Lets be honest, this is a Korean car and as reliable and cheap and as great value as they are, if you have ever driven one even the newest ones, they are down right scary at any pace that would be considered 'sporty'.
Case and point is the latest Australian built Daewoo/Holden Cruze. Has a 1.4t motor and 103kW(140bhp) and recently Walkinshaw Performance in Australia decided to tweak it to 180kw(240bhp)plus suspension and other goodies like brakes.
The standard car does 0-100km/h in 9.6sec. When tested the 180kw Walkinshaw managed 9.5sec. Now this can be a nubmer of factors but the biggest one i can think of is that Korean manufacturers have no idea how to design a chassis that can put power to the road.

What does this mean for the Ceed?
It's going to be st.

So because an Australian company did a bad job modifying it all Korean cars are crap?Case and point is the latest Australian built Daewoo/Holden Cruze. Interesting approach.
I wonder who Kia have worked with for the chassis tuning, we may be surprised?
Let's genuinely hope it's a good car, the more competition the better in the 'fun car' market.
From frequently used Kia hire cars over the past year I have to say they really have moved their game on, anyone that fails to realise this is probably disconnected from today's offerings.
Keep up the good work Kia, I still wouldn't buy one but it looks like the day where I might consider it is getting nearer...

If you look at how far Kia have come in the last decade it is astounding really.
I see so many on the roads now and it is little surprise - I think many of their new offerings are some of the best looking cars in their class and they look good quality.
It feels refreshing to see someone outside of the established crowd shaking up the market place.
If they put a properly powerful engine in the Optima it would become quite an interesting proposition for me as a business motor.

I might be several million miles off base here, but I think I saw a transporter full of these being delivered to a depot near Southampton Airport this morning. Did my eyes decieve me?

Sureley if this is the case where kia warranty wont allow for other parts then they are not needed for the repair? I work at a ford dealer and have done plenty of warranty work in my 11 years and i know they will only replace the parts needed to sort the issue.shockingly poor, to be fair the dealership are not at fault they wanted to do "a proper repair" but were unable to do so.

Plus if it goes wrong again its still got 7 year warranty to fix it? Again?

0-62 in 7.9secs... Not exactly impressive for a 200+bhp car :/

If this can be even half as good as the outgoing Clio 200 then it is going to absolutely decimate sales of the new RenaultSport Clio. I'm starting to get quite interested.
The Clio RS is a supermini, this is a Golf-sized hatchback so I don't think it'll be competing with that. I think its main rival will be the Scirocco with the 2 litre engine from the Golf GTI, same power output, same overall shape, and Kia has the price advantage... But we all know it probably won't be very good as a driver's carIt's the Veloster effect: korean car comes out of nowhere, costs less than european rivals and has similar spec, on paper at least, and they get bought by people who aren't exactly car lovers but feel like it might be fun. Now... is that a good or bad thing? I'm really not sure
