Now, how much premium are we going to have to pay over the 3-series then?

Also, as someone who remembers 90's Rovers - it does seem funny having a BMW 420i!

I'm glad that BMW has returned to making nice cars again after a decade hiatus. The interiors are exquisite - the last time I saw a nice BMW interior prior to the current range was the E39. Daewoos were more appealing inside than BMWs 7 or 8 years ago.

I'm proud to say that I'm a fan of BMW again. I shan't buy one (for various reasons) but I can finally see reasons to do so which involve taste.

But how could BMW call the new coupé a 4-series but then call the M version of that same model M3? The logic in the naming wouldn't work. They have to call the next M3 Coupé a M4.
Saloons-3 Series
Coupes-4 Series...
Next M3 will be 4 door, M4 will be the coupe.
Word is the M4 will be more hardcore than the current M3, lighter, more carbon etc.

So bring in the variant names after those cars come out. Its confusing people as evidenced by a few in this thread.

Looks a little like a 6 series. Nice styling.
A little - looks like a 6 series on 75% scale to me tongue out Lazy designers!

Does this mean we're getting an M4 soon?

That interior colour/material combination is not going to age well.

Nice looking motor that looks very much like the other crop of nice and not so nice looking motors that look nice to look at in a not so nice looking way confused

I think they have a case of 'Designers Block' at BMW !

Sad part is killing of the iconic M3 coupe. It will come as M4 (likely) frown Next M3 sedan will be continued to be branded as M3 though...
Speculation or fact? Amazing they would give up the iconic M3 name for the "Coupe", but rumours of Porsche dropping the GT3 name in favour of RS - mere speculation smile

Speculation from my side, but very likely to happen as Munich pointed out.

From that angle, it looks great.

From this angle, the bonnet looks too high, too bulbous, too long, and the windscreen looks out of proportion to these eyes.

Too big and bloaty compared to the 3s of old IMHO.

Looks like they have put the 6 series into a photocopier and pushed the reduce button to me.

F*****g hell, if the Americans fitted that interior, which looks like a pair of over the top Texan cowboy boots, they'd rightly be laughed out of the automotive world.

True to form, you have to hand it to Hyundai er BMW, they sure have re-invented the concept of being hideous.

Looks great. BMW could simply call the coupe and convertible cars "4-series" and the M versions would still be called "M3 coupe".
"3-series" and just "M3" - saloon and estate
"4-series" - standard versions of the coupe and convertible
"M3 Coupe" - M version of the 4-series coupe
I know it doesn't sound right, but the M3 coupe must survive...

I like it but I hope now its sort of been revelaed that the prices of the e92/93 are pushed down so I can afford one.

I don't give a toss what they call it! Who cares whether it's a 3 or a 4!
It's the first new BM in years that looks great!
