I owned one of these in the late 90's when I was 19/20. Probably the most fun car I had out of the selection during that period - including a black 155 2.0 twin spark with the sport pack and an mx-5. It was light, fast, the engine was magnificent and the recaro interior was pretty special for the car it was. Not so good was a tendency for the four wheel drive to randomly disengage - usually during freezing rain in the middle of the Scottish hills. Cue no grip and massive torque steer. We nicknamed it "hedge hunter" in honour of this. I truly loved this car at the time - even after the gearbox fell out - yes, literally fell out. Driving along, and suddenly the gear stick disappeared through the floor while I was holding it. Messy. However, sold it for more than I paid for it so despite the ridiculous running costs I didn't do too badly. I made good friends with an Alfa specialist in Leicester thanks to this car. Good times. And yes, I'm aware it's fairly crap, but it's an Alfa.

Well a little update, I used the P4 all year and over the winter as its 4 wheel drive, has been great and never let me down, MOT has just run out and I have not been able to sort new MOT yet due to my health. It will be for sale once I sort MOT or one of my other car's smile

Bloody hell not seen one of these for ages. I had a grey one many years ago, alas mine became a Permanent 2! Loved the Nardi wheel, the Recaros and the scream from the flat four, it also seemed a fair bit quicker when I converted it back to 2wd although the lack of torque steer in 4x4 guise was a bonus. It was great fun to drive but I remember it being one of the worst cars to be a passenger in that I've ever been in. Somehow while driving it you were oblivious to the rock hard ride, constant rattling from the trim and the doors jiggling about yet when sat in the passenger seat it drove me insane. Was lucky (unlucky?) to own almost every variant of the 33 yet the one I remember being the sweetest and most fun was a bog standard 1.5ie.

Hard ride and rattling? mine feels fine and quite soft on the road, I will admit to a few rattles but it is an Alfa laugh

The 33 16v was one of the best hot hatches of the 90s and was miles quicker and the Peugeots, VWs and Fords it competed with.
