It's a race car...it's not designed to look particularly pretty, it's designed to spank 458 Challenge cars.

The angle of attack on the rear wing looks mega...proper downforce machine, this one.

The 997 GT3 Cup was, I'm led to believe quite a handful and you could see by watching them the last couple of years chasing mid-engined 458's that the drivers were having to work much harder to keep the car in check. This thing with it's wider front track, longer wheelbase and improvement in downforce should put it closer to the competition.

The bulge on the engine cover is an air-intake. You can see it in the video they released. Pity they sacrifice the 911-shape for air. The 997-double intake did the job in a more beautiful way.

The promotional video however makes very much the impression they use this GT3 Cup as a 991-seller, with things like "uses the same production line". And a "sequential paddle shifter" to prepare us for a PDK-equipped GT3. I don't really like how this is going actually. Mezger engine too, so they silently acknowledge their new base is worse. I wouldn't expect a Mezger engine in the road-going GT3.

Tell me I'm wrong: The GT3 Cup grows away from the actual road going 911's.
