Nice car, spotted it yesterday and was surprised it wasn't up with 4Star or someone at twice the price.. My mum had one as her daily for a while in the 80s, loved it.
It was at 4 star until recently.

One of my physics teachers at school had one of these in the very late 80s - was silver and without the deco stripes IIRC. From memory it had later 'Classic' Alpina wheels which look a lot more modern than these, although my mind may be playing tricks on me!

Was a serious bit of kit back then and sounded fab smile

Glad I wasnt the only one chewing over this. Alpina doesnt have the heritage of BMW M?

Somebody on PH needs a history lesson.
And that lesson could be on Alpina's prominence in the late 1960's and 70's therefore showing they have more heritage than BMW M!

Indeed, When BMW were developing the E12 it was from memory Alpina/Schnitzer/Tom Walkinshaw and others that were brought in to provide the development feedback. The initial development of the 530MLE eventually resulted a few years later in BMW's first M saloon, the E12 M535i. Alpina were without a doubt there first - there is no M edition 3.0 CSL

Anyone ever dealt with 4 star? They've got some interesting cars for sale.

Editorial has gone to pot recently on PH. First there was the article comparing a 100k Merc to a Tiv and now this nonsense about aftermarket tuners with no motorsport heritage...

Have a word someone before the standars drop any further.

Come on PH a quick look at Wiki for example.
"Between 1968 and 1977, Alpina cars did very well in competition. The highlight was in 1970, when the team's cars won the European Touring Car Championship, the German Hillclimb Championship, rally and track racing championships and the prestigious Spa 24 Hours."

That claim about Alpina's lack of competition heritage is a dreadful indictment of the writer's knowledge. If you don't know what you're writing about, it's best not to write anything.

Nice car BTW:

Yep. I've bought a couple of cars from them, have a deposit down on another and they've sold cars for me. Thoroughly decent chaps.

Dies anyone remember the turbocharged 535i that featured in mags of the period (Janspeed???) Not sure if Roger Cooke, the TV investigator, had one?

Love it.

A proper motor. Ok the graphics are a little bit marmite but you have to view them in the context of the time the car was new.

One of their best efforts - the 250ps Alpina CSL from 1974, an early day M
