RE: RIP Subaru Impreza

Will definitely be owning an STI at some point. Probably a 05 Dccd model, or maybe a classic shape type r or similar. Lots of choice.
The 2005 STi is probably the best newage they made. Wider track and DCCD, coupled with the bullet proof 2.0ltr engine. If you have the cash for a rebuild, the 2.5 is good, but the engine has a completely different character. They're great fun cars, however, I can see why they have lost popularity. Further, for the most part, you'll have as much fun in a hot hatch. You buy an Impreza because you 'want an Impreza'.
Went to look at a couple of WRX STIs in the dealership today and I still don't know what to make of them. I think they've gone too far to the aggressive and (let's not mince words) chavvy side. My old 330S, in silver, had a menacing degree of subtlety, but the new front end combined with a wing that made my Evo X look positively underendowed is just a step too far the other way. THe dealer had a black car with black wheels and had added teh STI front splitter. The whole thing looked like something out of Batman, but not really in a good way. THey also had one in blue but the black wheels looked tiny against the blue paint and the bodywork was emphasises to a point of looking very bulky with too short a wheelbase
And you'd think they could sell every car they get given the laughable trade in prices...

The finance offer on them is not bad.
£6560 deposit and £299 a month on a PCP deal. Thats for a car listed at £28,995.
To put that in perspective, my wifes WRX-S was £19995 and the deal at that time (2010) was £6000 deposit £299 a month.
Discounts seem to be rare at the moment though

You do realises aesthetics are a personal thing don't you? That Subaru is ugly, and to me the M135i is a far better looking car than that. I have eyes but the designer of that front end of the Subaru musnt have ;-)Also read the ad, even Subaru admit looks aren't that Subarus finer points

To you perhaps. To most people as realised in the last few posts the 1series is about as ugly as a car can get. And I never claimed the impreza was beautiful just that the 1 series is awkward looking and ugly compared to pretty much everything. Also read the ad, even Subaru admit looks aren't that Subarus finer points

Well, most people who have commented on my car have actually said how they are surprised how good the M135i looks in the metal, it is by no means the best looking car ever made but its also by no means the worst, personally I think your post is slightly full of hyperbole.Sir Fergie said:

I can never make my mind up with Subarus. On one hand I love the fact that despite being fairly offensive looking, they're pretty unique and immediately identifiable as a Subaru / Impreza. On the other, they are a bit too obvious, even in a sea of Mustangs, Camaros and so on they stick out like a sore thumb. The hatchback remains my favorite in recent years though.
I do find them very appealing as an all-rounder though. AWD for the winter and some snow-hooning, cheap, fairly reliable, always a ton of aftermarket stuff for them and so on. I'm curious to see how they sell, the dealer round here has a ton of them and they don't seem to have moved many, if any.

I think you'll find thats just people being polite. Really capable car but it is, lurid to look at.
Again in your opinion, I think that Subaru is hideous. But let's face it neither are exactly lookers are they? If how a car looks is very high up on the list when buying a car neither would be first choice.
Oh and there's enough bloody 1 series about to suggest people do actually like how they look, funnily enough PH forum is not a good measuring stick for actuall public opinion. ;-)
