Great story. Bittersweet for me though - I've recently sold my 964C2 with 140k on it. In the 40k I owned it, it never let me down. Went all over Europe in it. So involving and fun. After trying a lot of modern stuff, the only thing I want to replace it with is another aircooled 911!

Photo taken about 2 minutes after i bought it in 2007:

Porsche should pay this chap a fee,as this is probably the best advert for Porsche ownership I've ever read.
Skiing with a soft top is class.

Enjoyable read. Nice to hear about a Porker being used to rack up the miles also. It usually tends to be "Merc stories" when it comes to "moon mileage" being achieved on four wheels.

I have been a passenger in this car on several occasions. Jamie is an incredibly competent driver, it is however utterly terrifying when he decides to explore the cars limits unannounced!

The cabin is a great place to be, as mentioned the seats are incredibly comfortable and the doors shut with a beautiful 'clunk'.

You wouldn't believe it had done over 200k miles

The water in rear footwells, my old 993C4 suffered from this, on mine it turned out to be a seal on the end of a chassis cross member at the front of the tub, which lets water in up off the roads. Somehow links to the ventilation system. Very cheap repair, the seal is a few quid. Think all it takes to damage is a stone up off the road to hit it. Paul at Northway Porsche sorted mine out, had another one in at the same time with the same issue. Good luck, lovely car

Moon is 225,622 miles aphelion (closest) and 252,088 miles (perihelion) - 238K average...

The dogvan will reach the lower number there sometime next year - before her 18th birthday perhaps - and on the original clutch we think!!

Great write-up and i'll add my voice to the accolades: Great car; great owner. This is what motoring is supposed to be about smile

(Now to the used pages and look for a Porche...)

It is so enjoyable (and infectious) to read about a real enthusiast, with a genuine passion for his motor. Thank you and well done!

+another thankyou to Jamie for this write up, stuff like this is why I joined PH.

Looking at the price of 964s, I was surprised at how "cheap" 993s are in comparison....when I thought they were way out of reach by now.

Ill make an attempt at doing a similar write up on the 1993 r129 500sl that Ive recently bought. Planning on keeping it forever, its on 82k miles at the moment.
