RE: Stripes for your Scirocco GTS

Scirocco GTS - was expecting gutless 1.6 Carb model with black body kit.
I had a couple of mates who had performance-abortion 75 bhp 1.6 carb'd Sciroccos years ago. A new dimension in slow. We then bought a Scirocco GTX or two, with the 8v 112bhp GTI engine; it was like getting in the Millennium Falcon at the time. The GTX would seem laughably underpowered nowadays... I don't mind the current Scirocco to look at, but the stripes shown above are just awful... I wonder if any mug will actually order them?

That looks horrid. The original base model Scirocco looked the best. Every tweek that VAG seem to perform on their models seems to deform them into some kind of automotive Joan Rivers.
I wouldn't quite go that far, but I agree that these stripes look pretty cheesy. Maybe these "deck stripes" do look good on some retro Ford, Chrysler or GM products though. When I bought my current VW in Texas, some twit at the dealership had pin-striped every car in their inventory. I insisted they de-stripe my new Tiguan or the deal was off. I later noticed that other customers felt the same way.
+1 Could not agree more..
Everytime I see a 'new scirocco' it makes me baulk..
Fat arsed, coffin carrier shaped,so over priced and fugly as hell..

Scirocco design peaked in 1980 - every evolution since then has been less and less elegant.
The current version is hideously ugly from many angles and these door mirrors in contrasting colours don't improve things in the slightest. Neither do 'racing stripes'.....
What a shame.
