In my line of work I tend to talk to a number of big company CEO’s. When the usual work talk is done it inevitability turns to ether football or cars. A few are lucky enough to own some crackers. Enzo’s, Lambo’s etc. What has always confused me is the attitude towards Koenigsegg’s. Now while no one has said they hate them. They do seem to be ether disregarded or just plain unloved. Why? It’s the car I one day if I’m lucky to own. It’s always talk of F40’s, F50’s, 599’s, Lamborghini Aventador’s. The minute I bring up the Koenigsegg it’s scoffed at.

It does seem to be the undesirable super car. I love them. The look and the 4.7 Twin supercharged V8 with up to 1000hp! It would seem the Bugatti Veyron is held in higher esteem that the big Segg.

The Zonda in the majority of its incarnations didn't have an F1 style 'box

These people had pics of Lambo's and Ferraris on their walls when they were kids. Bugatti is backed by the biggest car manufacturer in the world whereas Koenigsegg is not only difficult to say but for many doesnt have the cachet that splurging such a large amount of money requires or the comfort of splurging such a large amount of money with a company of that size.

Many buyers dont buy for ability they buy for impact. Sad but true.

Good point, as when i think about it although I know they're awesome cars, if I had the hypothetical 140m Euro win, I still wouldn't bother.

Well, Koenigsegg is a niche manufacturer with no history/heritage, and is therefore not a well-known brand with "kudos" like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti etc. There's probably a fear that non-petrolheads won't be impressed and may think it's a kit car rather than a genuine supercar.

Koenigsegg's are fantastic, admittedly I'd have a Pagani over one but after seeing the red Agera at Goodwood I'm entirely in agreement with you about their sheer awesomeness

a good supercar

could have been something to do with the fact that most Koenigsegg had a list nearly three or four times the price of a Ferrari / Lambo

I love them!
I'd have an 800bhp, flame spitting ccx over a Ferrari or Lambo any day.

I wouldn't mind one with a Euromillions win. But then it might be a Zonda first...

Possibly lack of brand awareness?
Mention Swedish cars and most people think of sensible Volvo and Saab, not fire-spitting supercars.

Another possibility is the fact that until the most recent models, the engines were modified Ford V8s.
At that price range having the car builder make its own engines, or at least use a 'special' engine probably matters.
[The only other two supercars of note, that I can currently think of, that didn't use their own brand engines, the McLaren F1 (BMW) and Pagani Zonda (AMG-Mercedes) had bespoke engines supplied direct from the manufacturer]

Its not simply that though I think. More the lack of cylinders on the V8 engine.

Not that I'm in the position to be put off or not by such things wink

Same car made uglier and tackier over several years.

First ones dogged by unreliability, current ones probably still dogged by reputation of earlier cars.

Tonnes of claims to be the fastest car in the world but only once have they proved it. They also sound st.

Never been a fan though I wish I was.
