I have been looking at these for a while but I just cant bring myself to change my E36 M3 for one. I have had a much newer Porsche 997 in the past and loved every minute of my short ownership

This looks a bit better. FSH and seems original.
Thats the one i would go for..
Agreed. If only I had £10k burning a hole in my pocket and a bigger driveway! smile
Fek me that's nice. Cash price....? 9k....?
The £9,995 is the "cash" price.

Unless private sellers offer credit these days, I'm a little out of touch.

These are getting cheap now.

Although I have seen a few Generation 2 (Facelift) 996 Porkas going for around £12.5k.

IMHO, they look so much better.

The early 996, from the front anyway, remind me too much of a Boxster.

What's up with your fuel gauge? Is that benefitting from some extra range touring tanks?

This. IMO, thy haven't aged well, 51 plate facelift is slightly better.

I think the pre facelifts are starting to look very dated now and for some reason I can't see them ageing as well as others. A guy in readers cars has bought a face lift 996 for under £10k so it must be possible? I think i'd wait another year for caymans to drop a little more, they still look as modern now as when they first arrived.

Personally prefer pre-facelift 996s. Been keeping an eye out and have seen a fair few better ones than these for 10k. Patchy history is a complete no-no on a 911 imo. Resale death.

I have read a lot of articles on 996s recently, people are certainly noticing what a bargain they are now. GT Porsche had a comment which mentioned that these 911s were the best received of all at launch yet now have the worst reputation. Doom and gloom merchants will have you believe that all 996s are only a few miles from chucking their engines, yet the silver one seems to have managed 100K miles. This fear is keeping prices down for what was once considered a true great. I'm hoping prices stay low a while longer though while I sort out the logic to justify one as a family (v.small child) car.

IMHO the savannah interior only really works with Guards Red.

This one's on the pricey side @ £14k but looks a beauty:

That picture makes me wish I was colour blind.

The sort of colour blind where brown and red are the same.

Not an aftermarket exhaust on the blue 996 - some numpty has grafted 996 PSE tips onto what is presumably a standard system...
