Sought after colour, convertible, low miles, fsh and to top it off owned by a PH member!
Nice car - what would your final price be....?Sought after colour, convertible, low miles, fsh and to top it off owned by a PH member!
A timely article for me.
I am seriously tempted and considering spending a little more, say £16k
But a few questions to anyone who wants to offer an opinion.
1. It will be a weekend toy, something to cherish. Is a 911 going to feel special enough?
My daily hack is a nice enough Merc, so will it feel "sufficiently" special unless near the limit?
My Chimeara fitted the bill nicely for years, but I need a little seat in the back.
2. If it is, C2 or C4?
3. Narrow body (say 40th aniversary C2), or wide body C4S
3. Should this be a seperate thread?
Note. No I do not want a BMW E(anything)or M(whatever), or a Toyota Supra Turbo Fandango for £4k, I said "special".
Have I answered my own question, worried Porsche might feel the same...

Lol, brilliant! £11,494.....With regard to the fuel gauge, it is temperamental, quite common, the gauge thing under the cover inside the boot needs a clean, haven't got round to it, lights and warning still come on when low, so won't run dry, just gauge sometimes goes awry.

Of course not, turbo engines are very good.
Okay, all without Mezger engines! But the point is they aren't as explosive as some would have you believe and rebuild costs of around £5k are not that horrific (okay 50% of these cars purchase price, but less than half of what Porsche will charge) given you'll be left with an amazing car.Emley said:

Worth trying one but to my mind the answer is "no". The 911 Carrera's great strength is that it manages to combine a reasonable degree of driver appeal with being a very usable daily driver, it makes no sense as a weekend car to me. Not bad if youre lucky but theyre cheap for a reason
Potentially ruinous bills
High miles
Old interior
Not that quick anymore
No one would look twice at a twelve year old porsche if thats your thing
Not the best looking car
For ten grand you can get some lovely cars nowadays
Id have thought a 987 boxster or cayman would be a better bet

That first one in the article has clearly been crashed - it has a huge chunk of the front of the car missing! That's obviously why it's so cheap.
Can't BELIEVE no-one else has spotted that.
Can't BELIEVE you haven't spotted the photo-shopping to remove the numberplate... ;-DCan't BELIEVE no-one else has spotted that.

Potentially ruinous bills - on what? All cars can have big bills, but good maintenance should reduce the chances.Potentially ruinous bills

High miles - seen a few with 150k and no problems....
Old interior - yeah a bit
Not that quick anymore - depends what you mean, but quick enough and amazing handling and a good driving experience
No one would look twice at a twelve year old porsche if thats your thing - I have found the opposite funnily enough, honestly....
Not the best looking car - nor the worst
For ten grand you can get some lovely cars nowadays - yep

really? I always have a good look at the ragtop 996 C4S thats parked on my road sometimes. I always think it stands out well among the endless stream of eco boxes and rep mobiles that populate our roads.kambites said:

In my opinion, the only Boxster that looks good is the 981 and there is no better 911 to drive for £10k than a 996. This is a 5 second to 60 mph, 180 mph, 300 bhp Porsche 911 for £10k! It's amazing value.
The bills aren't that scary if you're use to BMW M servicing maintenance costs or even AMG/XKR/3200 costs. In fact, buy a good one and it won't cost much more than a Golf GTI to keep going.
It won't be long till the demand picks up on good ones and these are back around £15k, especially as more engines receive some £££.
